OK, I don't believe I am suffering from any mental illness or dillusions here and while a little tired, I think I have some of my wits with me. (Didn't push all the brain cells out!!!) Plus, it's not just me, my husband saw it too. Yesterday, Emily turned 4 weeks old. Last night, while DH had her on his lap, she was all alert looking right at him as he was talkling all sweet to her. (Which, by the way, special note to the guys - you all look so darn sexy when you cherish your babies!!!) Well, I'll be darned, but she looked right up at him and smiled. We both were shocked and surprised at the time and both said "did you see that?" so I know it isn't just me. About five minutes later I took her to our bedroom and sat down on the bed and cooed and ahhhh'd at her. There it was again! Mind you no rumbling from below followed. Is it possible that my little wonder smiled at me? I'm serious guys - anyone? Is this possible??? (I'm picturing you all laughing at me!!!) Now, I also have to share my little news. Our little club foot is responding beautifully to her therapy (Ponsetti Method for those who may be interested). She may not even require surgery! She was suited up in her 4th cast yesterday and at the end of the 4th week they will take x-rays of both her feet to compare. (Normally they do not do x-rays on these little guys, but being that we are so on the fence with surgery or not, they want to make sure). So, the song remains true. Little Miss No-name has evolved into Little Miss Wonder. She continues to amaze me. It's so incredible how your heart can swell at the littlest news. Thanks for listening to me brag - AGAIN!!!

Ok Cbean, you posted the other day you thought she was smiling and dismissed it as GAS LOL.. I didn't respond to it, but I want you to know it's NOT always Gas.
When Regan was an infant the first couple weeks after she was born, I would caress her face after she was done nursing. She would smile every time I did it! When babies are content, even day old babies, they smile!
Also, there is a french doctor that is well known for putting babies into water RIGHT after they are born. From taking child devel. classes I have seen the movie a couple times.. and the newborn was SO content that it smiled!
So... you are NOT seeing things and it is NOT gas!!!
heehee.. enjoy!

I defer to my betters here. But I would very much like photographic documentation (dammit). Now, where's some photos not only with eyes open but now smiling?! -- Bob

I am not surprised at all that you are getting smiles! Parker started giving us social smiles right around a month. When babies are loved and happy they smile!
Hope the x-rays give you good news!

Four weeks old! Where does the time go?
She is right on target for smiling for a typical infant. Obviously she does not have Ds and you cannot figure out how to stay cyber friends with all of us! It's o.k.. We can still be friends! LOL
Keep up the good work Miss Emily!!!!!!

My Sweet Little Angel
I look at you now, my sweet little angel, and I cannot believe what i see. You're looking back, my sweet little angel, looking back and smiling at me.
It is such a surprise, my sweet little angel, how happy you seem to be. Because I was so scared, my sweet little angel, at what kind of mother I'd be
But you've taught me how, my sweet little angel, to know exactly what you need I'm not always right, my sweet little angel, but you are so patient with me.
I am your teacher, my sweet little angel, but you're more a teacher to me. You are now growing, my sweet little angel, and growing together are we.

Awwwww Christine that's sooooooo special and as time goes by you will begin to see that those smiles just make everything disappear and turn the gloomiest of days into the sunniest As for the seeing clearly again good luck Justin is 4 1/2 and I still can't see clearly some days it really makes me feel soooooo guilty for taking my older daughters accomplishments for granted, but not anymore, now I ball at Ashley's first basket at her game(she's 7) and ball when Alyssa wins the volleyball game by scoring 11 points when the other team only needed 2. OK let's just say it doesn't take much anymore to get those tear ducts on overdrive My vision maybe blurred by the tears of joy but I see soooooooooo much clearer now since Mr. Justin has Blessed our lives.

Yup. it's a smile. MM smiled the first time around 3 1/2 weeks I believe and I was afraid to say anything to anyone because I figured they'd say I was a typical "new mom" jumping the gun at the smiling thing but my mom or someone saw it the same day and said, hey - that little girl is smiling! <br>speaking of milestones...I can't believe I'm saying this but my Meghan is making me *nuts* with too much talking....!! thanks for sharing this beautiful baby with us! laurie
