Hi all been a long time . I just wanted to share . Cody J is talking really talking. In the last few months we are hearing more and more. I cant beileve my ears. The teacher said he is doing alot of talking in class too. He is learning some colors he can sign very well but now the words are comming too. Blue, green, red, all words. He still is useing his sign along with the words. My brother Jack came by a few days ago and as soon as Cody seen him he yells out Yack and signed my brothers sign name. I could not believe my ears.We have heard a few words time to time but now it is like he is trying to say everything. He was 4 years old in Dec. Iam not sure at what age most DS kids talk . So just wanted to know at what age did your child start talking? When they did what did you do to help them talk more? He has said things like mommy and daddy for sometime but these are evryday words now.Like when I read to him he will say some of the words I do . At one time I was told I would be lucky to hear words from him by age 7 because of his hearing problems. Once again I have to say they where WRONG!!!! Iam so happy about his talking and he seems to be comming along in everything in the past 3months. Doing things we have been working on forever it seems like LOL .It is almost like it is all comming together for him right now. Well just thought I would share .I miss getting on here and talking to everyone. With school I just do not have much time Big hugs to you all SID

WTG Cody J! I want to share that my John just turned 6 and his talking has taken off in the past year. Nothing has really changed in his life- it's like he was finally ready. He learns new words so quickly and puts his sentences together with ease! Speech for me was always the most difficult hurdle- what if he never talks? how will I get to know him? how will he tell me what happens in his day? I am so happy to hear when our kids take off in an area of difficulty as it provides hope and confidence in our daily efforts to prove those dastardly doctors wrong!!!! Congratulations to Cody and his family-

Sid, you cannot see it right now.. but there are : Parades!!!! Fireworks!!!!!!! and all around groovy dancing (well maybe it's best if you DON'T see that ) at your news. I firmly believe that the support of all your family and your tireless efforts are a BIG reason you are hearing the lovely music of Cody talking right now . (Personally I hope Uncle "Yack " is properly honored lol) I honestly think the whole talking things is SO variable from kid to kid. Gabe has finally finally fiiiiiinallly started to say three words sentences with out sign and without a prompt OMG SUCH sweet music to my ears ;D

Thanks everyone for your support.I have missed that so much not being on here. I do have support from my family Iam lucky when it comes to that. But it is nice to have it from others who really know how hard it is for our kids and how hard we have to work to get them where they are. It has been a long and hard winter and we have had many fights on our hands but we are getting back in the swing of things and back on track . Yes for sure uncle( Yack )was very proud to say Cody said my name frist. I have 4 brothers and 3 sisters Cody has sign names for all of them but for him to really use a word well he was very proud. He came by and brought Cody a special Toy. Cody has alot of special toys LOL They really love this little guy. Thanks again Hugs SID
