SQUACK!

OK, our little parrot (JT, who has DS and will turn 3 next Friday) has begun a bad habit. At first he would yell "Dad" while signing it. His big brother and sister would laugh.....sigh.....
Now our three year old reminds me of a parrot. He squacks LOUDLY all of the time. He has a hand full of words that he verbally says, but has a huge number of words that he signs. He has now decided to give up on all of his words and his signs and squack!
I'm guessing it's a phase, I'm hoping it's a phase. We've ignored it, to not reinforce it, but now we're telling him "no" and "quiet" and then saying and signing the word HE SHOULD be using.
My husband and I tease JT that we'll go get the blanket and put it over him, like they do a parrot, to get him to stop yelling!

LOL but then he would probably like being covered up by the blanket so much that he would never stop squacking! It sounds like he is right on track in his social development for recognizing when something irritates his parents and then purposely doing it over and over. But I sure don't have a solution for it, would like to hear some ideas myself!
