Five years ago, I was struggling with an unplanned pregnancy that came at a time in our lives when we were really not ready for another child. One thing that helped us come to terms with it all was that this baby would be a boy, so DH would have a new fishing buddy, someone to take motorbike riding, and do all the fun "male" type stuff. Then we were given a devastating blow, that took all those dreams and ideas away from us. Our boy would have DS. When the girls asked "When are we going camping again?"... the reply was "probably never". Our vision was that we were going to be slaves to a disabled child that would not be able to do all the things we had thought. That we would be running to and from hospitals, specialist appointments etc.... OH How Wrong we were.... Here is a couple of photos of our camping trip last weekend (we go camping very regualrly these day...Lewis has been practically raised under canvass!)... Better yet... this trip He caught his first fish!! I have been teaching him how to use a fishing rod for a little while now and he loves taking it out into the yard to practice, so taking him fishing was just a natural progression... He was sooooo excited at actually catching a fish!! Reeling in a BIG one... Pleased with his catch! For anyone who thinks our kids cant do it... Lewis is only 4.... My other kids were 6 before they went fishing and caught something!

OMG Tammy! You hit it right on the head! I remember when I learned I was going to have a baby with DS I thought our lives were over and we'd never do anything like a normal family again. What a dufus I was! Duh, look at me 10 months later taking a 4 month old to Disney. Yeah, life's really over LOL!!!! Oh if I only knew then...!!! Lewis is beautiful, I love his hat and what a cool fish!!! Now I just gotta ask, did he throw it back?

CBean.... Yes the fish went back to swim and be caught another day! These fish are are actually good eating... they are just really small and have lots of bones to pick out.... Cant be bothered with that... Most of the fishing we do is catch and release... only keep a couple of good ones for a feed every now and then...
