I have come back from the Royal Brompton Hospital in London full of hope! Professor Gatzoulis is one of the top men in the world dealing with Eisenmenger syndrome and he was very encouraging and is a very nice man. He said Nicky is doing well, his weight is good and he isstable and not in need of any medication for along time yet, his sats were 86% (higher than they have been for quite a while) he had a chest X ray, blood taken, blood pressure and an EEG but the Professor want him to go back in three or so months for more test and he will be admitted into the hospital overnight. He assures me the test will be none invasive and if at any time Nicky indicates he has had enough they would stop and try again later. He said to keep Nicky as active as possible as that would be very beneficial but obviously not to overdo it. I had to ask about life expectancy, fearing the worst, but Professor Gatzoulis said he could live well into his 30's or even 40's and by that time who knows what advances may have been made into the condition. This is the first time in years that I have felt Nicky is in no immediate danger, what a relief. We went down to London the day before the appointment and it was the hottest day of the year so far. We enjoyed going on the London Eye, we walked through St. James's park and fed the squirels, saw Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and lots of other London sights. We were both exhausted when we finally arrived home. Pauline

Great! Good trip and a good report. Thanks for the update. Maybe you and Nicky just need more trips to London, just what the doctor ordered. Keep active but don't over do. Maybe a side trip to Brighton or better yet some Mediterranean or Caribbean beach where there's actually WARM water would be good therapy too. -- Bob

I'm so happy you shared your news. I sounds like you took good advantage of your trip. I wish I could see London Eye. What a thrill for children. Did your whole family go or just you and Nicky? Gwen
