Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this. Nicholas does NOT like loud noises. He is better. He used to cry if someone laughed, or if you ran a blender. When we had family dinners at my mom's (BIG family) and everyone was talking, he would cry. My older son is very active in sports, and Nicholas is better at the outdoor games, like football and baseball as long as we're not sitting by an overzealous cheerer, and we've had to tone down, too. (hard for my husband, he likes to cheer loud for Derek! ;D) He still cannot tolerate a basketball game, where everybody's contained in a gym and all the buzzers going off. Just wondered if this was common, and if they outgrow it?

Hi!! My daughter Lexy (23 months) use to be scared to death of cows. She hated when they moo. On tv, if I did it, books, magnets, you name it she hated it. Her bottom lip would come out and she had a look of pure terror. Then when her fluid was finally off her ears---low and behold the cows don't scare her anymore. I'm sure this isn't your little ones problem but i was amazed at the difference in Lexy once we got the fluid off her ears. Just thought i'd let you know!!

First, Lexybug, that is just too cute about the cows!
Second, yes I think that's pretty common that our babes have noise sensitivity. There might even be a thread on here already that you could search for.
Jason is to the point now where it's just particular noises or sounds, not just because they are loud. Used to be anything loud, any type of crowd, etc. But, we just continue to expose him to things and he is growing out of that.
He hates being in a crowd when everyone starts cheering, clapping and the band starts playing (think hockey game!). But, he will usually just cover his ears, he doesn't cry anymore or anything like that.
Hopefully, Nicholas will grow out of that as well. It probably won't be an overnight thing, but he'll get there eventually.

Our 13 year old son still hates the loud noises associated with big crowds in sports arenas.

Ryan (6) has a hard time at baseball games. When someone hits a homerun, they use fireworks and then the crowd really cheers. Sometimes it helps when I prepare him. I will talk to him at the stadium about home runs and fireworks. When I see a ball going out, I quickly tell him, "look ... there's going to be fireworks". The fireworks themselves really don't bother him. It's the cheering that gets to him. He will usually cover his ears and "fold-up" in the seat!!
When he was a baby, it was the trash truck... Oh my goodness that really scared him!!! But he is over that now.
