Umm, I never looked like Barbie and you've all seen me, so you know I certainly don't look like her now, but I still liked to play with my Barbie dolls. So there, who says children need to play with dolls that look like themselves!

I once actually had a doll that looked like me. My grandmother was a secretary at Ideal Toys and her boss had dolls made based on my picture and my sister's. They were called Chrissy and Velvet and had hair that grew. Well, I hated that doll and used it to play tug of war with the dog.
And I can't see spending that much money on a kids toy, my son would still rather play with the box and the wrapping paper.

WHAAAT?!! I remember so vividly the Christmas that I got my Chrissy doll!!!!! Me and my sister each got one that year and I loved that doll. Actually, that's the ONLY doll that survived my sadistic brother along with my sister's tendancy to cut our dolls' hair (she later went on to be a beautician for awhile) ! I still have her packed away. I can't believe I actually get to "talk" to the real Chrissy!! LOL Jessie

OMG!!! Too funny!!! I remember getting a Chrissy doll for Christmas. The following year I got a Tiffany Taylor doll. Chrissy you just pulled a big pony tail out of her head to give her longer hair. Yet Tiffany had a revolving scalp so you could change her back and forth from blonde to brunette! LOL!!! Wow what memories. Tiffany also had quite a rack and I was a preteen and let's just say I looked up to that doll!!! Ha!!! How Funny!

This may really be telling my age, but I had a "Chatty Cathy" doll and one whose name I can't remember.....if you put her two hands together she would pucker up and kiss! I used to LOVE dolls.........I wish Emily did!!
Has anyone heard of Emmet Kelly Jr, the clown? When I was about 3, he met my grandfather and gave him one of the first stuffed dolls in his image. It was in my room till high school when I foolishly threw it in the trash. I now have many of his collectible ceramic figurines and would love to have that doll!! I also had a set of tiny dolls in the image of the Beatles. I gave them to my sister when I was a teenager and she still has them. I'm guessing they are worth a good bit by now!
