how many of your kids use the singular? samantha just got it today from her doctors office. she has a whammy - cold -allergies-ear infection in which i allready know that the augmentin is not going to work and the next one will not work either. after the augmentin we are going to make an ear nose throat appointment to have her ears checked. i allready feel we are going to be looking at getting a 2 set of tubes in her ears. also if your kids use singular - does it help them? sue

Sue, Justin and Ashley are both on Singulair and have been for quite sometime now. For us it works great, good luck.

Morning;
Eric has been on singular for 2 years...works very well for him. He was diagnosed with asthma and was getting frequent upper respiratory infections (which usually lead to pneumonia and hospitalizations), but since he's been on the singular, he hasn't had one asthma episode. He only had one "cold' this winter. He also takes flovent inhaler and stays on a maintenance antibiotic for the winter months. Seems to be working for him...good luck with the singular.
Dolly
p.s. Eric also had tubes put in ears 2 years ago...they just fell out a few months ago. We're crossing our fingers that his ears will stay clear.

Sue, Josiah just recently (last Sept) started taking Singulair. The granules, and it has been WONDERFUL!!! Prior to starting him on this he was taking Cromolyn and had been for years and it was doing nothing to control his allergies. He was continuously full of snot day and night. Suctioning him, while he screamed cried, bit himself, and banged his head in frustration at all the congestion. Two days into use of the Singulair his sinus was all but completely clear!
He still has sinus problems/asthmatic allergic reactions to strong triggers, dog/cats, cigarette smoke, heat, strong cooking odors, perfume, etc. When this happens I have to resort to Xopenex as rescue. But last summer while on the Cromolyn he was having to have 3-4 Xopenex EVERY day just to breathe. I have been very pleased with the difference in using the Singulair.
Oh, but one thing about using Singulair : it is very sensitive to how you administer it. In the granules, you can only mix it with certain foods and not with liquid. And must be given within so many min. of opening the packet. I tried to experiment with using other foods than what was suggested- BIG mistake. It says you can use carrots, so I figured any orange veg. would do. Wrong! The next day he was like I had not given him any allergy med at all. Also I tried using pureed baby food carrots and same problem. I believe that is due to too much water in them, again with not using liquids. Just warning any potential users that it DOES matter how they are administered. Just so you don't think the med isn't working. -Lyn

thank you for your responses. i am not sure the singluuair is helping samantha. i do believe it is helping some. she is got a cough now. she is still congeted stuffy nose with junk coming out. she tries to blow her nose with alittle bit coming out. i think she is going to be better. i just have to give it alittle bit more time. i need tommorrow morning to suction out her nose some. that helps her also. i did it last night and this night also. thank you for all the responses. sue
