Well I think I could handle shutting doors a whole lot better. Jordan cannot stand anything on the tables or on his bed, or the counter top ect. If we put mail on the counter top he will walk over and push it on the floor , if you lay a book or toy on his bed he will throw it on the floor, if we are on the deck which is up a level anything he can get his little hands on , over the railing it goes. We have been trying to break him of this , so now he will sneak and do it. It wasn't funny last nite, but it kinda is now ;D Jordan was at a grill out with his dad and on the way home he took his shoes off in the car , which is another problem, and his dad had the window open which we never do , and guess what Yes Jordan threw his shoes out the window and his socks, dad didnt know this until they got home. So our little Jordan had to wear his timberland boots to school today LOL. So I guess tomorrow we will be out Gym shoe hunting , anyone know if there is shoes with locks on them heheeheeheheeh. Jordan also has an obessesion with taking his shirts off even on the school bus . He is quick too!!! Sharen PS: you gotta love em

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the shoe thing. This was NOT funny at the time, but looking back I can get a little chuckle.
I used to drive school bus, Paige sat by the window, he brother sat next to her in the same seat by the aisleway. Both of them were forever taking their shoes off. It was the end of the school year - it is hot as blue blazes on those school buses so the windows were down.
Suddenly I hear kids screaming "Holy sh**" - of course I look in my mirror immediately to see who is cursing on my bus and all the kids are looking out the window ---- yep, you guessed it, well maybe half of it, lol, MY daughter had thrown BOTH pairs of shoes out the school bus window.
I was mortified - praying to God that they didnt' hit someone elses car, and then sooooooooooooooo mad that I had to go looking for these shoes after my school bus run was over, 2 hrs later.
Never to be found.
So, I totally understand the shoe thing (and the door thing, and the throwing things, etc.). NOW I have her in high, high top basketball shoes with the laces that go above your ankle, double knotted and velcro that wraps around, lol - she can get the velcro undone and the laces, but she CANT pull them off of her feet. She gets soooo mad. Took me a little while, but her efforts have been thwarted!!!

We're not throwing anything out the windows,....YET, but we have an open staircase with a gate at the top, and he LOVES to throw ANYTHING over the gate. You find all kinds of stuff at the bottom of those stairs!

Justin is just like that, we can not have anything on top of anything or he will go over and push it all on the floor even on the back of chairs Ill sometimes hang my purse there and he will throw it on the floor, we go over to my step moms and she is cleaning off her tables because she knows it will be on the floor. I can relate to everything being knocked over....for Erin....it is chairs....a chair seems much bettter knocked on its side !! Taking her to the library is torture because it is so quiet in there & all those chairs to knock over !! I think she really enjoys the "bang" when something falls !! Her new favorit thing is toilet seats....whacking them down....which of course she loves to do in a PUBLIC bathroom(where the echo effect is fabulous)......and the LAST THING IN THE WORLD you want her to touch is a public toilet seat....eeehhhhwwwww.

Oh Sharen, that would be SO irritating to have everything knocked off the counters and tables! I'm so glad Jason doesn't do that. However, I can relate to the shoes. He feels he must take his shoes and socks off everyday on the bus. The first nice day we had and the windows were down on the bus - out went his socks and his coat!
We still have to keep the child locks on the windows in our vehicle because he will throw out anything he can get his hands on.

Oh boy, I can SOOOOO relate to the flying shoes and the "snatch and toss" of pretty much anything that isn't nailed down!!! Can't tell you guys how many times I've been bonked on the back of the head by Alison's flying shoes as I'm driving down the street!!! I was finally able to find these little things that go over the base of the bow in her shoelaces. They're called "Keep-Tys" and you slide the whole bow part into this thing and then it has a screw cap ( securely attached to the tube like part!). The ones we have also have the added bonus of bells!!! So not only has it been a while since I got clocked with a flying shoe - I can hear her as she tries to make a "quick" get-away! I was able to find them at the local StrideRite store. I don't know how well some of the older kids would react to these things - might cause some major tempers!!! So far Alison finds them more of an entertaining thing (as far as I've seen she hasn't tried to undo them) - sits in the carseat singing and jingling away! Alison too has the lovely habit of grabbing and throwing pretty much anything and everything!!! One of her most favorite things to do is get her basket of books, push, pull, drag it to the top of the stair to our front entryway, and one by one slide them under the safety gate and down the 3 stairs!!! We're talking 30 or so books! She'll also take her blocks out one by one and just toss them behind her! Anybody else dealing with a future interior decorator? Alison has this thing where she is constantly trying to move the furniture around! I've had to move our coffee table and end-tables into storage - I lost a couple of table lamps because of them falling when she moved the tables. It is funny to watch her try to move things like the dining room table or the sofa - she is very determined to make those things move and will sit and push and grunt and groan with all the effort! Hopefully she won't cause her herself a hernia or something with all the straining!!! Does my heart good to see that I'm not the only one in this oftentimes annoying boat! Barb

I'm thinking of Letterman's top 10 as I write this... except it's Ryan's top 10 annoying habits ;D I too have fallen victim of the flying shoes in the car. Socks on the dash. Books out of the bookshelf. Toys out of the toy box. But I would take them ANYDAY!! One of Ryan's two worst habits was decorating floors and wall with poo! When he was about 3 1/2, he had woke without a sound. Ryan then redecorated his room. He must have had quite a large bm - it was smeared into the carpet, on the walls, on his bed, pillow, toy box, in his hair, nose, ears, his legs (looked like he had taken a mud bath)... we were at a point that we didn't want to take him to someone elses house for fear he might decorate. Be warned, the following is VERY GROSS AND GRAPHIC!!! LOL!!! And the number 1 top annoying habit? BY FAR the WORST of the WORST... actually licking his poo off his finger!!! He would go a little, stick his fingers in his pants and then sample it. KNOCK ON WOOD he hasn't done that for a while, but man that was a HUGE problem. It got to the point that I was afraid to answer the phone at work for fear he had done it (again) at school. He actually wiped in one the teacher's pants one day YUCK!!! We never did know for sure if it was a reactionary thing, or if it was something else. A nurse told me something about it being animalistic - dogs do it and maybe his body was lacking something... but still, YUCK!!!

Adam also has obsessions. Everything has to have it's place. Like in his room don't event hink of changing the room around, even the toys are in a specific area. His blnkets have to be tucked a certain way. At meal time the glass has to be in front of the plate and he will not aloow food to touch each other. We are still working on breaking these. But we only do one at a time or else he would go nuts. ;D

Brandon loves to throw toys around...I think it's a boredom thing mostly. I try to divert him but he goes right back to it. I call him Bamm-Bamm because he is strong and can tip over my coffee table! The only thing that works is to take all the toys away. Also, he NEVER keeps his shoes on! If I'm going on a quick trip to the store, I don't even bother with shoes. I just put socks on him, carry him out to the car, and then put him in the shopping cart when I get there! Otherwise, I spend 5 minutes putting on shoes, drive for 5 minutes, then spend another 5 minutes putting his shoes on AGAIN when I get there! I'm going to look into those shoe lace lock thingys at Stride Rite! And...like Jodi's little guy, Brandon likes to play with poop! I have to be extremely quick and get to him as soon as he goes in his diaper...otherwise... Oh, man, Jodi, I can relate. I have been in tears over the poop mess. He also eats it off his fingers! Sorry to gross anyone out! Brandon is also 3.5 yrs old. Maybe it's the age. I hope he grows out of it really soon!
