Today was the Special Olympics "Spring Games" in our county. The kids were very excited about the day......always a FUN day outdoors, doing relay races, broad jump, wheel chair races, softball throw, 50 meter races, etc. We woke up this morning to POURING rain so the whole thing was moved quickly to a large gym at the university. It was such a blast! Emily participated in the 50 meter run and the softball throw. She won 3rd place in the run and couldn't have been more excited! Because she is on the special athletic team in our county, she knew kids from all the schools and it was so fun to cheer for all of them.........felt like family! Afterward, her school group went to a pizza buffet. Perfect way to end the day! Here are a few pictures: 1st one was taken at the end of the day.......it's a wonderful picture of the whole group but I cropped Emily out, just in case the other kids parents didn't want their kid's pics posted. 2nd pic is Emily running for all she's worth!! 3rd pic is Emily and her long time friend Jessica, who goes to a different school. They cheered each other on. #nosmileys
