Emily's 25th birthday will be May 3. She is leaving today for Austin and will fly with her sisters to Vegas on Thursday. I am surprising her in Austin on Sunday....I will be at the gate when they return...and am planning on staying the week she will be spending there.
Since she wont be in Seabrook ...her employers hosted a surprise party two nights ago at a local restaurant she loves....called....Emily's! From what she said there must have been about 12 people there...these are people she is friends with and are involved in her life. Lisa...the woman who lives in the neighborhood and takes her daily to the gym....the owners of the gym...several women who go there....her case manager....a nurse who often housesits....and women in her employers project that Emily knows. She really considers and calls all these people her friends. She has been so fortunate to have these wonderful people woven into the fabric of her life this past year....proving that people with disabilities CAN have friends who are non disabled.

Actually I was wrong about it being a SURPRISE party. Seems Emily made up her OWN guest list....from her group of FRIENDS....and everyone she invited came. Her employers picked up the tab.

Happy Birthday Emily! Hope you all have a wonderful time!
Wow, her party sounds great too...you must be so thrilled that she has found such a wonderful living & working situation. How nice of her employees to give her a party before she goes away (and to pick up the tab to boot, LOL!).

I am so happy for both of you. How great to move to a new city and have 12 friends already. The job must be going very well for her employers to host a party in her honor!
Jackie, thanks so much for these updates. It really lets me look forward to my son's life as an adult.

The trio has hit Vegas...and have reported in more than once.......so far...Katie is the only winner....$678 on quarter slots...they were at the brand new hotel ....the Wynn...that just opened yesterday. They are SURE the slots there have to be loose since its brand new...LOL....today they had lunch at the Hard Rock....and called me from there. Apparently when they asked Em what she liked best so far...she said...."that Mom is not here!!!!!"....LOL.....
Tonight they are going to surprise her and take her to the top of the Stratosphere for dinner. Marnie said they are milking her birthday for all its worth...telling every one and getting her all sorts of freebies. I am SURE it will be her "birthday" until she comes home Sunday...LOL
