Joshua was discharged from the hospital yesterday, following a VSD repair. The rest of our family stayed in a Ronald McDonald House across the street. I pretty much stayed with Joshua, except to take a quick shower, as he doesn't cry loudly enough for a nurse to hear him from the hallway. He's 3 1/2 months old now and weighs just nine pounds. He should grow more quickly now that his heart defect is repaired. Everything went great. It was hard to see Joshua so "out of it" the first few days, but now he acts like nothing ever happened. It was so nice to sleep in my own bed last night after spending so many nights in a reclining chair. Some of these pics are a little gruesome, so don't click if it will disturb you to see fresh surgical scars and lots of tubes. share.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=EeANGTRkybuWrOXA

Joshua looks great in the post PICU pictures. I am so happy that he is doing well. Aren't you glad that heart surgery is now a thing of the past? My daughter had hers on her three month birthday. Sarah is now three years, nine months and I still can't tell anyone about handing her over to the anethesiologist without tearing up.
Now take it easy, mom!

I'm not looking forward to this day, but your pictures are a good look at what is to come. Maybe I can prepare myself a bit more because of them.

So glad that he is home again, and that the surgery is over! Welcome to the other side. It is such a relief, isn't it? Cassandra had her heart surgery when she was 6 months old.
