CATHY, you GOT it girl, many positive thoughts going your way and REMEMBER NOTHING is "Nonnegotiable" I was lucky and didn't need an advocate for the first few years of Christopher's schooling but now my motto is "Don't leave home without one" LOLOL
Will be thinking of you girl, and post up as soon as you can, YIKES we need Jackie to untangle, LOL

okay okay, it was a LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG one but I think it went fairly well.
On the the NON-Negotiable items, she got her aide on the bus both ways...to and from school, her car seat (not harnesses) and her PT for next year.
The ESY has to be okayed by the head of SP Ed as does their paying for her swim lessons. All this because there are no therapists in Iron County, she will have to be bussed to Iron Mountain. I may have to get her private OT or they may provide it through the Early on Home based, they are even trying to get her homebased ST if she cannot get to the Easter Seals Program.
All the goals I had were almost exactly the same goals as the therapists and teacher wanted. And some of theirs were more agressive than mine.
We all agreed to weekly updates on all of Katies progress through the use of a notebook! And that I get a lesson plan every week!
I did not sign anything yet, I will wait to see how the report comes back.
The teacher said that Katie is a joy in class, but a bit stubborn. ROFL ya think? they said that her stubborness may hinder her but more than likely it will help, becuase she is stubborn in things like getting things done, completing a task and doing things herself.
They also tried really hard to have me put Katie in Head Start intead of PPI but I refused, I want her in a more structured setting with more one on one andpull out therapies!
I was very firm and consistent but not abrasive, infact the Advocate (whom everyone was afraid of) didn't say a word during the meeting. She letmehandleit but did say she would like toread the finaly IEP before I sign it!
No problem there! I was so relaxed and calmI surprised myself. The PT looked at me when it was over and said.... MAN YOU CAME PREPARED DIDN"T YOU??? and I said YES I DID! I have 23 more years in the school district I want to start off right and continue that way!
WOOOOO HOOOOOO I am so glad that the hard part is over! Let just hope that allthechanges we agreed to show up on the report!
Hugs and thanks for the support. I love you all!

CATHY, OOPS girl, Sorry, what I meant in my last post was that NOTHING is "Nonnegotiable" on the schools part, You know what I mean, RIGHT
YEA, Glad to hear all went well ;D ;D
Yes, have your advocate read it, I ALWAYS have mine read everything before I sign anything. Its sooo nice to have that advocate sitting there for support ;D I tell you girl mine feels guilty charging me just to sit there, well NOT to guilty I guess, she still charges me, LOLOL But after the few bad bad IEP's I have, I won't go to one without her
One thing for sure I have noticed how different the team acts when you have an advocate with you then when you don't
GREAT News girl, thanks for sharing
Doing the HAPPY IEP Dance here for you ...
