**Beware.....it's a long post, lol**
Good Afternoon
I just thought I'd share with everyone that we were able to get the school to provide a classroom aide for 2hrs a day when Jared goes into first grade next year. (Not sure if the fact that we asked for a "Prior Written Notice" during a verbal conversation with the principal about a week before the IEP meeting made the difference or not.)
Also wanted to share that Jared got to participate in the school's music festival yesterday morning. His class was first to sing & only a couple of the kiddos were chosen to sing alone & the rest of them sang in groups of 3-4. Jared actually got to sing by himself & he had a great time. He walked into the music room, stood in front of the piano, waved at the audience & said "hello everyone" with a huge smile on his face, introduced himself to the judge & then told him what the name of his song was....."Skip to my Lou, an American Game Song."
He then sang all the verses he was suppose to & actually stayed facing the judge the whole time. Usually he starts dancing around & ends up with his back to you where you can't understand a thing he's singing, lol. (I think he has ants in his pants at times, lol.) After he was done, he turned back to the audience & said "Thank you for coming." Waved good-bye & walked out like he was suppose to. Boy was this mom on cloud nine when he was done!!! Of course since he's the only one with Down syndrome in the whole town, everyone knew who he belonged too & kept coming up to us saying he did a great job!!!
Omg, I almost forget to mention that Jared has also lost his 3rd tooth!!! It's one of his top front teeth & does he ever look so cute with the huge hole in front when he smiles. Actually the other top front tooth is loose too, but not enough for it to come on out yet. He was so funny when he lost this one because he told me he'd be mad if the tooth fairy gave him money. He said he hoped she'd bring him a space suit & space helmet....where that came from I have no idea, lol. (And he also told his teacher he couldn't lose his tooth at school because his mom said so, lol. Even though he lost it at home, his teacher gave him a certificate for losing it & boy was he ever excited to bring that home.) I'm glad it didn't happen at school because, the tooth fairy is big deal in our house & I didn't want the extra grief of not having a tooth that Jared is so proud of losing......kwim?) Especially since mom (as in me) dropped the last one down the bathroom sink drain & had to wait for dh to get home a week later to take it apart & get it out of the trap. Thank goodness we have 2 bathrooms, lol!!!
I also wanted to share that we got to see Chris Burke, John & Joe DeMasi in Enid a couple of weeks ago. And Jared was one of 2 kiddos that got chosen to perform with them. They gave him a fake guitar & some cool sunglasses with silver lenses & he stood up behind Chris (who was pretending to be Elvis....wig & glasses included.) Jared was so funny standing up there shaking his little booty to the music & playing his guitar, especially when he was having trouble keeping his sunglasses on. They finally slid down his nose & he was peaking out over the top of them. We also got to visit with Chris, Joe & John, before & after the concert.......we have a wonderful time!!! I highly recommend to everyone if you ever get a chance to see them.........it's well worth it!! Btw.........mom (as in me) didn't take a camera Oh well........it's still a moment I'll cherish forever!!
Last but not least...........I know it's been forever since I've posted anything or even lurked for that matter. We've been so busy & Mr. Jared came down with Strep Throat which also turned into Scarlet Fever, so it's been interesting in my household the past couple of weeks.
Take care & have a great week!!!!
