If anyone is interested, I did my own research on this one.
In PA, Medical Assistance, DOES PAY for generic diapers for a child over three. What you do is get a prescription from your dr., go to a pharmacy that participates with your Medical Assistance Insurance Card, give them the prescription. The will pay for 200 generic diapers per month, they are run thru the system like a prescription.
For kids that need Brand Name Diapers for medical necessity (urinary tract infections, rashes, etc.) OR if you need more than 200 generic diapers per month, the dr. writes a letter and fills out a preauthorization form and sends it to the Medical Assistance Insurance Companies Durable Medical Equipment Department. They authorize the prescription and then they ship them to you from their DME authorized entity.
You pay nothing.
So, guess what, Paige just turned four, I'm a year to late, but coming up at her well visit next week, I'll be leaving with a prescription for diapers!!!!!
Hope this helps someone/anyone or at least points to the right direction.
Debbie

I just stumbled upon this same situation in Mass. If you apply for Social Security for your child, they will get a Masshealth card and with that, diapers will be delivered to your house... not sure how many or what type ..but just thought I'd pass on.

We have pretty much the same situation here in Iowa for children over the age of four who still need diapers and who qualify for Medicaid services. It's a really good program.

Just for the record, it does work ;D ;D ;D
I thought it would be such an issue. I got a prescription from my dr. - it read DIAPERS #200, refill 6x.
Took it to my pharmacy - they said pick out what you want and bring me a pack (after doing that), - ok, give us a day to set it up and we'll call you. This was Friday afternoon.
Monday AM, phone call - Good morning, we have 200 diapers here for you.
NOW, I will say this, so far I've gone thru double what I would have b/c the quality is so poor, but even if I have to buy a couple of bags per month, I'd have to say it's still worth it.

I wish it worked that easy in MO. When we lived in CA I could get them, and medi-cal too due to Russell having DS, but in MO it isn't that easy... so Russell does NOT qualify for the Katie Beckett medicaid waiver so, no go on diapers... I have searched and searched and you have to have a low income to qualify for any diaper type programs.. and our conventional insurance doesn't pay for "devices"... and diapers are considered a device. I already got a perscription and tried it What sucks is that I think that for MEDICAL reasons and over a certain age, the states SHOULD help with diapers.. not just because I can't afford them... Russell is 6 and MEDICALLY needs diapers due to an imature bladder which is common with some of our children... ***sigh**** I don't ask for much... what they heck! A.
