I try to right a poem for each year. This is her's for this year-Hofmeister was her 4th grade classroom teacher--best teacher ever, really got involved and made things great for Kaylee with all the 4th graders..hope you enjoy..
Oh my! Oh dear! The end! Is near!
When I arrived-Had you fear?
Or were you ready-for my grin?
The smile which often follows my sins
Some innocent-Some for fun
Some were just to see you run
What have you gotten yourself into now?
Falling in love with the girl in the crowd who would yell-
HOFMEISTER! SCARBROUGH!-
As though she were King
Not just a kid with
Some extra needs
To put it bluntly-You didn’t screw up
You gave me a fair shake. You filled up my cup
You looked in my eyes and saw that I mattered
You helped me to know that for life ever after
I’ll always have friends, beloved and remembered
Who gave me acceptance-a chance to fit in
Whose arms reached out wide
That I might come to
And hear and experience
What learning can do-
I know the day you figured it out
You looked in my eyes-
(You were worried no doubt)
But the love that shone through
From our God up above
Gave the courage to invest
Time, energy and love
So you set out to help me, and I know you won’t quit
‘cuz I feel your love daily and remember each bit
Hofmeister, Scarbrough, Downer and Lee-
Saxton and Finster –who else could there be?
You did what you could-You gave me your best
Now all I can say is-You passed the test!!
When I pray at night -I think of you too
And tell my God thanks
For giving me You.
