Who uses them? We are looking into them for Carter and I am interested in if they become dependant on them or if they were good to get the ankles going straight (and hopefully walking!) and get on with life.

We use them. They are superb compared to the DAFO's our local orthopedics place made! They aren't outgrown as quickly, more flexible and no complaints about wearing them. I think the juries still out on whether they are supposed to do any good. But they made a difference in Maggie's balance! I count that as a good thing. Let us know what you decide. Robin M

Kristen,
We use them, and compared to everything else I've seen, they are the best. Having said that, I've been given to understand that many kids with DS will always need some sorf of support for their feet. I was under the impression that we could "fix" their feet and musculature with a good orthotic, but the orthotist tells me that the lax ligaments will probably always need some support. We're just taking it a day at a time!
