nice title huh? LOL
Ok.. Russell had the 24 hour flu this weekend. No biggy, well, except for the mess. AHAHA! But, you know, I have noticed something that makes it quite difficult to manage him in this state. See, I know throwing up and being sick can wipe you out some and tire you... but... my man VOMITS while sleeping!
Not just won't wake up stuff.. he starts coughing, I run in, I hold him up, he is limp, I try and hold him up, he is MORE limp falling over, he is throwing up, throwing up, falling over, eyes shut, asleep, throwing up, body moving, mom having a hard time holding him, daddy not in room because HE may vomit...
Then... after the throwing up is done, Russell is still asleep and lays back down...
GHEESH...
Do any of your kids do this? My other two don't . He is so difficult to manage. When this happened last year we had to have him sleep on the carpet and roll around there.. it was a pain but less of a pain then trying to hold him leaning over the crib.
thought I'd share and wonder if any of your kids do it too?

WOW A. ~ I am noooo Doc but Man oh Man that sounds sooooo dangerous. I can't imagine how Russell can sleep thru that Can we say DEEP Sleeper
In the last 11 years, Chris has hardly ever vomitted but OMG when he does it is not a pretty site He has such a hard time getting it up, I assume from the low tone, not sure. But I worry OMG if he did this during the night he might choke
Have you run that by your PED, can't say I ever heard of anyone sleeping thru that.
Hope you feel back to your old self real soon, RUSSELL

You know CC, Russell has a hard time getting it all out too. I never equated it to the low muscle tone but that makes sense.
I have never asked the Ped about it. I am not sure there is much to do except for NOT sleeping all night and watching him while he sleeps. I even found throw up on the wall the next morning, where his crib is. I put him back in after I thought it was all done. I was wrong. I worry about the choking too... I guess he managed to turn his head and get my wall instead!
Oh.. and I forgot to mention that before Russell even DREAMED of getting sick, I had taken a sleeping pill because I don't sleep well. I don't take them every day but did that night... LOL Thank goodness I sleep well but I can still wake up but man was it hard on a sleeping pill!!!

My eleven year old is just starting to respond properly when he vomits (go to the bathroom). He used to lay down and thrash as if he was having a tantrum. It as only happened a few times that he vomited in his sleep, but it was the same as your son. ( one night it was 10 times in 5 hours) It can be dangerous because of the choke hazard but most of the time kids will turn their head. It was the mess (and pity for the poor kiddo) that made me get up each time. The next day I took the towels out in the woods and shook them before putting them in the washer.

Thanks Gwen for letting me know I am not alone. It does sound like Russell does the same as your son did when he was younger. That is why we tend to leave him on the carpet or I have to change bedding WAY too much. I sure hope as Russell gets older he does learn to manuver better LOL. And yes, we had a big mess!!!

We know how that is...about the 10 times in 5 hours...when Courtney gets a stomach virus...it is every 20 minutes... YUK And if I don't hold her up she is laying in it and then rubbing or should I say smearing it across her face and hair trying to get it off her mouth. Not fun. I usually lay 10 layers of towels under her when she gets ill. Throw up...then a layer comes off. Because of how she does it every 20 minutes...I don't have time to keep laying them out. We now have this lovely Phenergran oil that you rub on their wrists or tummy. It works in 15 minutes. You can get it at any compound pharmacy.. Love it! I am waiting for the day that she will go to the toilet and actually hold herself up. Won't be anytime soon I can tell you that! I feel for ya.....I know how that is! Poor babies!

What is the Phenegran oil for? To stop puking? If they have a stomach virus, don't we WANT them to vomit??? P.S. Hiya Jenn! A.

Forgot to mention that what we have done with Chris since he was bout 7 or 8 and he had to vomit was take one of the little wastepaper baskets and put a new bag liner in and I showed him actually to spit up in there. Soooo when he does have this problem, he carries the little pal with him everywhere Has saved me a messy car when on the way to the Docs
And I second A ~ WHAT is Phenergran oil
