I just wanted to know if anyone else has this problem with thier little one... Kourtney bruises really easy, and her hemaglobin is good and she shows no signs of being animoc (Sp?). Her doctor said that it might have something to do with her skin (modeling ?) I know that I myself bruise a little on the easy side and thought maybe she got it from me.?
Just wondering if this is a DS thing because of her skin or what? Anyone else have this going on? Hard to keep a high strung 5 year old slowed down and she is into everything right down to trying to get on her older sisters bike, climbing the swing set, playing hard...Just makes me feel bad, ya never know where you will find on on her next.
Thanks Michele

HI... I too bruise very easily. Olivia my girl doesn't. BUT both her and I get that mottled skin when we are cold and Liv gets it too when she is sick. Our ped told us any bruising is normal for the age you are describing(you should see my 7 yr olds legs YIKES). The only time she told me to worry is if the bruises are in weird spots. Not the legs arms etc. But lets say on the belly back neck ...somewhere you don't normally bruise. Otherwise it is very normal.

I also bruise very easily and most of the time have huge bruises that I accidentally just notice and have no clue as to where they came from.
Both of my kids bruise easily as well. Paige's legs are covered in bruises from the knees down and so are my sons, also bruises on the forearms as well.
I know it looks awful, but I wouldnt worry about it, unless the bruising shows up in strange spots that wouldn't usually bruise - ie. stomach, back, etc.

Thanks for the responses, Kourtney loves to rough house around, she is forever climbing and spinning and falling down and things like that she right now has a bruise on her right side, one one her lower back and one near under her armpit. I also bruise easy and find that sometimes I have no clue where they came from. I was just wondering if it had to do with her skin which mine is the same way (Mottled) on my upper legs and torso, so maybe she just gets it from me. Thanks Michele Is the back and torso harder to bruise or something? Should I be concerned that she is bruising there ??

Is this just a new thing or has it always happened?? Keep an eye on the bruises and see how long they take to go away. If they last for a long period of time,I would take her to the doc and get a CBC done to see what her platelets are.
Under the armpit is a strange place to bruise but it is possible for it to happen.

Allison mentioned platelets. I do know from Russell having very low platelets at birth, that platelets are related to bruising... But from what you are discribing, it sounds like good 'ol kid fun bruising. My youngest, Reece is the one we see the most bruises on over here. But she IS a toddler and that happens more at that age... since they are into EVERYTHING!
Like Allison said, just keep an eye on them and ask your doc if needed. It's probably nothing though.
And Russell has been mottled since he was born LOL. He is 6 and it's never gone away yet! LOL

I think the back is a harder place to bruise, and the stomach is sort of a strange place to get a bruise, but again, with kids, anything can happen.
Both Paige and my son have gotten bruises under the armpit (they may have been grabbing each other or something), and they both have had bruises on their sides (again, probably from grabbing or falling into things).
I dont really recall any on the back itself - lower back like diaper area and below, yes, but not on the upper portion of the back on the kids, but I, MYSELF, have had brusies there from banging into doors etc. (I'm sort of a clutz I guess, lol) and also bruises on my stomach, from what, no clue.
My skin is not "mottled", nor is theirs, I just think I have sensitive skin, and they inherited it.
I do, however, mostly because I'm paraniod, lol, keep an eye on them and make sure they're turning the right colors and go away within a reasonable period of time.
I will say that Paige's bruises stay much longer than my sons or mine, and I have wondered why, but they do eventually go away.
Hope this helps!!

Adam also bruises easy. His hemoglobin we're very high at one point last year and we we're worried. But everything is back to normal, and he is still bruising easy.
