K, as hard as this is to believe ;)LOLOL (I know I am having trouble believing it, ROFLOLOL) I was WRONG on the ESY having to be a certain amount of time. I was speaking to my advocate today, YUP we talk on Sundays too ;D Anywho I was talking to her bout some other matters and I thought let me ask her bout this a little. So she reminded me and how I ever forgot is beyond me but I did
I asked for ESY when Chris was just tiny and my district went off on this and that and how he didn't need it bla bla bla and that the region held a 4 week summer program and that was all he needed. I did have to drive him there and pick him up. K, no biggy I thought. But when I hired my advocate a few years back she said, they are screwing with me, cause they don't want to pay to have Chris bussed and if for any reason they decide to cut the region summer program they will not have to provide anything for Chris in the summer Well, funny thing is once I have her with me BINGO they agreed to put ESY in the IEP sooo now they buss him to and from. BUT this is the part I got mixed up on, sooo sorry for the wrong info earlier Because they don't buss all the kids in our town to the summer program they refused that region program as an ESY program for Chris. Sooo they would rather pay for a longer program for Chris and pay for bussing for Chris and a one on one for this program. Cause although its more money spent on Chris in the long run it saves them money, cause if all the parents in town got wind of that, by all rights they should be bussing their children to the summer program it would cost them lots more then it does now. YIKES I hope I am making this clear for you all to understand. But what it comes down to and what it ALWAYS comes down to is money
Soooo Steff and anyone else, Sorry for my wrong info BUT I will say if you any of you do have "ESY" in your IEP then your child is entitled to bussing from door to door, unless you don't care I just thought I would share that.
Geeez this stuff is soo confusing
