I took Kaylee in for her braces yesterday. She did it - with a bit of discomfort--but hey! they're on and will be for almost 2 years. ... ugh... She is sooo proud of them and seems to be adjusting fine. They had to put a W thing in the roof of her mouth also...I can't believe she actually sat there and let them do all this stuff to her mouth..I mean she's usually good at the dentist and ortho--but I just wasn't sure about actually getting the braces put on... She got to have a treat (Wendys frosty) and rent a movie (the new Peter Pan--which is fabulous!) Anyways..it went great--then when we got home a wire popped off so my dh drove her all the way back at 630pm and had them fix it....this could be a long two year.. Anybody elses kids have braces??

My stepdaughter just had her braces removed a month ago and she wore them for 2 and a half years.....What a thing...She could not eat things that the other kids could and she had to tighten them herself and at first she absolutely loved them and was so proud she got the ones that were blue and thru out the time she had them on she had 3 different colors, after about six months she hated them and wanted them off. But she made it through it all and as a result she now has a beautiful smile and is happy that she had them..Good luck with them I know one day the Kourtney will need them as well, so when that day comes I'll be asking you how Kaylee did with hers.

Cool! You know, I can't STAND the dentist but my braces and all THAT pain really didn't bother me. I am sure Regan is rounding that corner herself... she wears a retainer right now on top that had a gear in it to get her V-shaped overbite back in place... 6 more months of that...
Here's hoping Kaylee doesn't get TOO many broken wires!!!

Kaylee is 10 turning 11 in September. She has a couple teeth still coming in--but they're trying to make room on the top - that's why they started now. She has been seeing the ortho for 2 years now on a recommendation from our (wonderful) dentist. Kaylee has been great at both her dentist and ortho appts--and I'm very thankful. She had no over bite and that was the main concern--as well as the crooked teeth. She is missing one permanent tooth-the one next to the front tooto-and will eventually need an implant. For now -they can make her braces with a fake tooth in that spot. You can't tell now, because of the crowding, but once they make room then it will be apparent. So far we've had one broken wire-and lots of brushing....

YYEEAA Kaylee!!!!! I have had two of my students with DS get braces and glad to say they both did great! And the end results were wonderful Cindy!!! I am so excited to hear she sat and let them do it all to her, wow I am also very impressed!!!!! No way would Chase, alhough I am glad to report he as of right now does not need them, it was one of my biggest fears!!!! Now I will cross my fingers Zach wont need them either, he just lost his first tooth and it was a so funny to see how excited he was about it! I had forgotten as Chase never lost a tooth that we found, I say he must of swallowed every one and he never understood about the tooth fairy, maybe because he didnt have the actual tooth? My oldest son Mike had braces for three long long years, and we went thru alot of broken wires from him eating things he wasnt suspose to huggers, Robin

I know what Kaylee will be going through. I had my braces put on when I was around nine and they were just wires behind my teeth. I eventually had full length braces put on when I was ten too, I think. I had them on all through my teenage year's. It was a long, painful process but it was certainly worth it. My teeth look much better now! ;D You will get used to the popped off wires too. The problem is when that happens, you may not be near a dentist. ;D
