I sure could use some advice on this topic!! For those of you that have kiddos that play video games, could you please share with me what they first started out playing on?? Or what your personal choice is & what benefits you see using it. My mom is wanting to buy something for Jared for his bd in August & we're both clueless Jared will be turning 7yrs old I'm actually not even sure what all brands are available & I'm even thinking maybe just a hand held game instead of one that hooks up to the tv. I was also interested in something that possibly had some of the older games like pacman or centipede (see I'm telling you how old I am, lol) or at least games that are comparable. I'm thinking this might be a good thing to get for his bd especially since his fine motor skills could use all the help they can get, lol Have a great holiday weekend!!! Sherri

Sherri, the Leapster is good as the games are actually educational, such as matching, colors, numbers, they also come in Spongebob, Dora sorry I forget the rest, they can also draw on it. Good Luck and yes it is a hand held

They have some new video games that hook up to the tv, but it's just 4 or 5 games included in the "set" and that's it. I think they are the older games too...pacman, astroids, etc. I'm pretty sure that K-Bee toys had them. But I can't remember. So many toys, so little time!
They make some really neat hand helds that are inexpensive. Does he like fishing or motorcyles? They have one for each of those. !4.00 at Walmart I think.
Good luck!

Ohhhh SHERRI, we have lots of video games, too many actually, LOLOL
Chris started out on Nintendo 64 which he still loves but they don't make that one anymore. He also has Nintendo Game Cube, those games are on disc's and don't work with the other Nintendo. So he switches back and forth, LOL
Kodi has Play Station II, I believe is the name and Chris plays that once and a while but mostly he keeps to his two Nintendo games.
I swear it has done wonders for his eye hand coordination OMG he is soooooo good at the games. He beats Colin all the time, LOL But the funny thing is he can do GREAT and keep the little guy going on the screan without even looking at it Man I have noooo idea how he can do that I can't even keep the guy moving when I am looking right at it, LOLOL
For the Nintendo 64 we have Hmmm I think they are Pooh ones for teaching math and spelling. I would have to check.
The only thing I will tell you is Christopher, tried using Kodi's hand held game boy and for Chris anyway seem to have trouble seeing it, very tiny screen.
If you get one of these just let me know which one you get and I will tell you all the games we have that Chris loves.
Ohhh and one of the benefits I have seen is ALL the kids in our area play these games and when Kodi has her friends over or even when some of the neighborhood kids come over they are ALL amazed how good Chris is and LOVE playing it with him ;D

Thank you so much for all your replys!! We're thinking that the Leapster may be the winner here. Sad to say that our tv is around 10yrs old & we just found out that we can't even hook up the new dvd player that my mom got me for my bd So it doesn't have a place to hook up games either. Take care & have a great weekend!! Sherri

I just had to share something that Jared said to me this weekend about the Shrek2 video game he saw advertised on tv.
When he saw the commercial on tv he asked me if he could have it. I told him that I was really sorry, but we don't have a "Game Boy".........he interrupted me with a huge smile on his face & said "Yes we do mama.....I'm right here!!!" lol ;D
It sure has been a LONG summer so far, lol ;D
Hope everyone has a great week!!! Sherri
