Have any of you had to request a replacement for your child's Early Intervention service coordinator? I'm very seriously considering doing just this thing.
Here's why: For the past 5 weeks I've been trying to get a supplemental speech eval done for Alison. Her service coordinator told me that she had contacted the agency that I wanted to do the eval on June 2nd. On June 14th, I called her to see what was happening since I had not heard anything from her or the agency. She said, oh, I'll call them. She called me back the next day, said that she had faxed all the paper work over to them and I should hear from them within the week to set up the date and time. Well, along comes June 21st, still no word from the agency, called the service coordinator again, left her a voice mail asking for her to call me. No call back, so again called her the middle of last week and left another voice mail. Yesterday I had finally had enough of the BS and called the agency myself.... talked to their EI coordinator & scheduler who had absolutely nothing from Alison's service coordinator!!! I called the service coordinator today.... she finally returned my phone call and tells me that she doesn't understand what could have happened, that she didn't get my voice mail messages, blah, blah, blah!!!! Well, I definitely had an attack of PBS ( Pushy Broad Syndrome ) and made it quite clear that I was not a happy camper. Explained to her that I had called and spoken to several people at the agency who all told me that they had no record of any phone calls or faxes from her regarding Alison. Told her that I expected to have an eval date & time in place by 4pm Friday afternoon and that I really didn't care what she had to do to make this happen!!! This conversation took place at about 3:30 this afternoon. Do you think it was coincidince that someone from the agency called me about 20 minutes later and we now have Alison's eval scheduled for next Wednsday morning?!?!?
Another thing that is really making me consider the change is a conversation that I had with Alison's physical therapist earlier today. He is part owner of the group that he works for. Like most of our kids' therapists, he deals with numerous service coordinators from lots of different agencies and told me that he suspects the problem is not with the agency that I wanted the eval done by but with this service coordinator. He told me that there have been a number of different things that she has said/done in the past that just didn't sit right with him. Add this to a comment that was made to me by a mom that I met at one of our parent support group meetings who just happens to have worked with this woman when they were both job coaches - this mom said to me "You know you have the right to request a different service coordinator?" and I'm really starting to wonder if this woman is really the person I want to be in this position for Alison.
Am I being totally paranoid and over-reacting? If I do request a change I have already found out that I would have to stay within the same agency , would I be creating even more problems for Alison and myself?
At this point, I am so ticked off and frustrated I have no clue what to do!!!!
As always, I appreciate any thoughts and suggestions you all might have!!!

PS.... Say a little prayer for Alison, she is getting tubes in her ears first thing tomorrow morning!!! Thanks again!
