Matthew began sitting up independently this week! (He just turned 10 mos on the 16th) When his PT left on Mon she told him he was so close and he'd better be getting into sitting on his own by Wed when she came back...I guess he was listening!!! ;D Just had to share b/c I know many of you have felt the elation I'm feeling! Sometimes my friends who have non-DS babies just don't "get it"!

Yeah, Matthew!!! I wish I could share in the elation personally. Justin is 18 mos old and still can't sit without someone holding on to him. I am hoping before he is 2 yrs old, he will reach this milestone. I think he is a lot farther behind than 95% of the kids here. It is discouraging, but I am always hopeful that in time God will bless him with the muscle tone, too. Congratulations, though. That is absolutely wonderful!!!

WTG Matthew!!! Addy is 8 1/2 months and soooo close to sitting up by herself! If you put her into the position she can sit like that for a long time, but we are still working on getting there by herself. She has done it twice before but not the "correct" way. (She was sitting up by doing the splits instead of coming up from the side) It's hard to discorage her from doing it that way because she seems so proud of herself. But her PT says it is a very bad habit, and I know she is right. Before I go though, I wanted to say WTG Matthew again, and Matthew'smom I get it, it is soooo awesome!!! Lori

Nicole.... YEA for Mathew sitting!!!! I sure do feel your joy, I have a big smile on my face!!! Go Mathew!!!! I still remember all the little things others took for granted that caused me such joy when Chase accomplished them To this day I celebrate every little mile stone, our children are walking talking miracles, what not to celebrate!!!! And to think how I took things for granted before Chase...never again. Chase showed my family the true meaning of life and joy. hugs, Robin
