How cool, just got a letter from NDSS that the photo I sent in of Christopher riding the horse and his sister Kodi, side walking was one of the photos chosen to be used ;D They say about 200 photos were chosen out of nearly 2,000 photos that were sent in I am excited this year they chose a photo with both my kids as in the last years Christopher was up there, was only his photo and Kodi wanted to be up there too Soo this year BOTH my kids will be up there For any that can't be at the walk on September 26th they are selling the video that will be played in times square. So if your photo is chosen you can still see it Also just to share leading the walk this year in Central Park we have John C. MCGinley (who plays Dr. Cox, in Scrubs) and Chris Burke. Looks like its gonna be one cool day CC

That's GREAT news Christie!!! I just read at the Message Board that Christopher Kelley's picture was also selected.....his proud grandma posts here at Uno Mas about him, and has posted pictures of the little man....a total DOLL! Wish I had gotten on the ball and submitted one of Emily! I'm always a day late and several dollars short! NEXT year, I'll do it.

Hi.
I had my picture up there a few years ago. It was great! I don't know what I did with the video though. It is missing. I am hoping someone else has it that is in our Down syndrome group here.
I was working in my Aunt's pottery shop in Madera, California back in 1980. I was twenty then. Mother chose that picture. I didn't think it was a good picture of me but she liked it. I had no makeup on because I was always working with either clay or something else that was messy.
I was in my cap phase. I had on a denium cap that I wore to death! ;D

Hi- I wanted to share that Darcie's pic was chosen too! It is one of her that was taken by the photographer who did her photo shoot for our Down Right Beautiful calendar. I'm not sure which one they chose though because I sent in two. I can't wait to get the video. I too wish I could be there, but our local Buddy Walk with the KC Chiefs is the day before the one in New York. CC, Congrats to your family!! Diane PS I am going to try to post her pictures so that you all can see my beautiful little girl.

Just posted the pic of Emily they are using...its her mime pic...and an interesting story.
This is from HS when she took a class called communications (speech in my days). As I have stated before she was the only student with developmental disabilities included back in 97.
The project at the end of the semester was to do any sort of paper or project that demonstrated methods of communication.
Since Emily and big sis Marnie had been in a theatre mime troupe for years we thought of all the mime training and ways of expressing thoughts and ideas without words....
First we had Em sit down and write these out...emotions mainly...like...happy ...sad...mad....fear...then things like big ....tall etc.
We helped her with her make up...then spent one whole afternoon getting her to do the poses that were needed for what SHE came up with. All the poses were HER idea...we just took pics.
Then we got those big pieces of foam in many colors....and had her cut out the pics....and past them in....
The she sat with her dad at he computer and helped him type out the labels....
She then put the whole thing together ....punched holes in the end and tied it together with a rainbow ribbon....it came out like a neat childrens book...and we still have it...
It was a totally meaningful project for her...fulfilled the criteria...and got her an A.....but no comment on it whatsoever by the teacher who very glumly accepted her into her class.....bummer......but...WE were certainly proud of her effort...grade...and her excitement over the whole project.
