I am wondering if anyone has some recommendations about good computer games for John. He loves to play on the computer, and we have a few games, but they are getting beaten up from over use and I am looking to purchase some new ones. He does have a couple Reader Rabbit games, ( preschool and toddler) and Living Books(Little Critter, Cat in Hat) but would love some new ideas. I don't particularly care if they are "leaning" or not, just something he will have fun with. If he learns that is great. He is 5 yrs old, with pretty good computer skills, but cognitive skills are at about 3 yrs, inching up ever so slowly toward 4. Thanks for any and all advice!

Carolyn - I don't have any specific ideas...I love the REader Rabbits the best - I've been thru other software that I wasn't crazy about (Winnie the Pooh, Sesame St). The Tonka truck series have some beginner ones that might be good. A great place to find inexpensive software is Marshalls & TJ Maxx. Do you have those near you? I love them for software, kids books & toys...usually great discounts but you need to hit them on the right day. I also have a place that sells software very cheap - pretty much just s&h -- if I find the order form I'll post it. laurie

Laurie-
I too have been through some pretty disappointing stuff- Can't put my finger on why the kids don't like them, they just don't. I do in fact have a Marshalls and T J Maxx so I will try there. Thanks for the help!

Hi Carolyn!
Do you have a Costco near you? They have some neat computer games that are packaged in a 4 or 5 pack. I picked up one that included Blue's Clues, Clifford, Bob the Builder and Putt-Putt saves the Zoo. Very good price and usually comes with a rebate. The company that publishes them is Encore. Putt-Putt is a great series - he's a car. Really cute. Been using them since my son Ryan has been 3 1/2 and they're great b/c I don't have to sit and do everything for him. He can figure out most of it for himself. Ryan also is a fan of the Tonka games. We have Search & Rescue and a construction one. I purchased a couple on Ebay...but be warned...you may win it cheap and then get hit with large s/h fees.
Happy game playing! Christine

There is a series called Jump Start that is very good. I forget who makes it.
