THAT is the scariest thing I've ever seen! How can anyone...ANYONE? compare our beautiful kiddos with that doll? EEAAAKKK! The lips are deformed on that doll...the eyes are bulging out of it's head...and the ears are bigger than it's whole head. Yikers, guys!
Staci
NOW, Katie...THERE is a beautiful doll baby! What a gorgeous baby!!! Cathy, it's too bad they don't stay that little, huh? SOOOO SWEEET and CUDDLY! Awww I miss it!

Aww gee thanks Staci... Its a good thing Katie is so cute..cuz these days its really saving her life!
As for the "mongoloid" word... When I first started researching DS when Katie was born..that word was consistently thrown around. Very frightening to a new mom..
Now that I am older and somewhat wiser I realize that is outdated and that the theories of old are also obsolete. Our children are really something special and God Bless them all!
Hugs,
Cathy

Merideth too is attached to her Teenie-Beanie dolls by TY. Unfortunately they discontinued the baby looking ones & she lost hers on an outing one day. We bought her the Downi one before the price increase, for her 1st Christmas. (I mean what do you buy an 8mth old who happens to be the 4th child. We already had a house full of baby toys)It lives in her bed & she occasionally plays with it . The Beenies & her Waterbabies doll are her favs though.

Does she honestly think she has created a doll that looks like it has DS? ?OMG! Those are the scariest looking dolls I have ever seen. I am sure any child would be terrified of it....Looks more like a "chuckie"doll than a child with DS..... I have some mixed emotions on the whole thing...I am a HUGE ebayer.... It really makes me mad that someone is actually selling a grossly misleading representation of our kids for profit. Then, I learn that the lady making these, is actually a mom with 3 kids with DS.... Biological and adopted.. So, I have to consider the fact that she is fully aware of the "issues" we, as parents of children with DS, deal with. Maybe it is her approach to community awareness.......... Then I have to laugh, cause they are just so BAD.... I really hope her kids don't grow up to hate her. I would have a hard time forgiving my mom for that one...

:oHello can you say CROMAGNUM those dols should be called "Cave Dweller Dolls" The last ones I really thought were cute dolls though...Whoever made the first set must have had the wrong book out... I know she made them out of clay and all but..They barely even look like a baby..Good intentioons or not..That is one set of ugly dolls. LOL Michele

OMG Michelle you've hit the nail on the head. They are Crow;Magnum looking dolls with some HIGHLY grown up faces. Sorry took one look at em laughed at the completely bizarre way this person designed doll with ds. The was a movie I once saw and This line was the first thing that came into my head after looking at the Dolls(not the downidolls) OH MAN LOOKA DA SIZE OF HIS CRANIUM. Whoever made those had never seen a baby with ds or they would notice their delicate little features. I still want Olivias tiny nose and NO her nostrils aren't FLARED and HUGE!!! hee hee well i got a lugh this sat night BYE

Well, unfortunately people can make just about anything these days. Even the dolls Jenn posted about, which I have seen advertised, almost all have their tongues sticking out. I would never buy that- it would only encourage Ricki to stick her tongue out. And the others are appalling! I see no need for a special doll. Do any of our girls (esp. those without DS) look like the sleakhaired immaculate gorgeous dolls we buy them? Only for five minutes a day at most!

I e-mailed the link for the dolls to my extended family. They are, of course, aware of the fact that they are genetically linked to a child with Down syndrome.
So, the e-mails are flying back and forth regarding who in the family most closely resembles the dolls because our son with DS looks nothing like them.
The family agrees that the third one looks like Peter Lorrie from the movie, Casa Blanca.
