I posted on the other thread for this same topic, but in case you don't see it....here goes again. Justin was born at 29 weeks weighing 1 lb 14 oz and 12 in long. Although the whole preemie thing was a Hell of a rollercoaster, my little peanut is alive and thriving. He came home after 9 1/2 weeks. He was readmitted for respiratory issues several times after that, but for the most part has remained a very strong little fighter. Even though they face preemie battles and DS issues, I think this little boy will be just as strong as my little miracle. Many prayers going out to them.

Alice, Yes...I had identical twins with DS....Justin Gabriel and Jordan Michael. Jordan passed away, though, at 13 days old due to complications of prematurity and hydrops. Even though he is no longer here on earth, I still say I have twins. Thanks for remembering.

Deanna, Aww, so sorry to hear that you had lost one. I know how hard it is, because my cousin's one twin son passed away when he was just 3 month old. They were born very premature too. My cousins son is now 24 years old and he is an American army soldier, and we still remember that day when we were called about our little angel death. My cousin and I are very close, so why I am taking all their problems like mine. << Hugs >> to you, Alice P.S. It is so good that you still feeling that you have twins.

You are all soooooooo wonderful. It certainly helped my heart to read such heartfelt prayers/stories and suggestions for gifts . Now Alex is OFF the respirator as of yesterday ;D he will have surgery soon for his bowel problem. The did find 2 small holes in his heart but aren't expressing toooo much concern. Same as Haley (asd and vsd). Thank you all for being there!

<<Now Alex is OFF the respirator as of yesterday>>
Good job!! Way to go, Alex! And thanks for the update. Charlie was initially put on a ventilator but extubated himself at 2 days old, only went back on ventilator for surgeries. Robert was first just put on bubble CPAP. But at a couple days old NICU doctors decided to do sort of a preemptive intubation. Put him on a ventilator for 28 hours and gave him one good dose of Survanta, artificial surfactant. Did him a world of good. So, sometimes being on a respirator can be therapeutic. But it sure is good to make progress and move on. Will keep having good thoughts and sending positive vibes for Alex.

I just saw this today, and will include little Alex James on my prayer list (and his parents too!) right away.
Ethan had two small holes in his heart at birth (and a PDA) but both things resolved completely on their own. Well, I'm sure all the prayer helped, LOL, but I mean they were resolved without surgery.
Please keep us posted, I'll be checking this thread often! Hugs, Laura
