"Hi everyone,
DSAGNO received a call today frm St. Elizabeth's Foundation in Baton Rouge. There is a new baby girl at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans that has Down syndrome and she is in need of an adoptive family. From what I understand, she's beautiful. She's been named Emily Elizabeth by the St. Elizabeth's staff. She is in the NICU there and was born prematurely; however, I understand she's in there mainly because of that. She has no heart defects.
St. Elizabeth's is seeking a family for Emily Elizabeth, hopefully one in Louisiana. Louisiana adoption laws require that either the birth mother or adoptive parents be Louisiana residents for at least 8 months. Emily's birth mother lives in another state. There is a possibility if no family is found for her here that she could be adopted out of state, but St. Elizabeth's is working hard to find a family in the vacinity that would like to adopt her and that can visit her at the hospital to start bonding with her.
Please pass this along to anyone you know and ask them to spread the word.
