I am sooooo excited, I had to share this with everyone!! It was like a little door opened up tonight, and all this stuff just came pouring out of Nicholas!! ;D ;D We got the Signing Times videos for him about a month ago. Up until now, we've only seen him do milk, more, and eat. Tonight, he was sitting by his dad and me, and started signing play. I told him it was time to go to sleep, he signed sleep, I said let's read a book, he signed read and book. He signed more and eat, so Bill gave him an apple, then SAID apple, Bill told him he was going to take a bath, he signed dad and bath. Oh, and thanks after he got the apple. So then we just started asking him to different ones, like bird, fish, cat, and HE DID!!! AND.....was saying the words with them! ;D ;D It was just SOOO cool, and I was so excited!!! OK, there's my brag for the day!

Wow, that is awesome Valerie! It is so cool when our little ones learn the power that their "words" can have. Ethan told me the other day that he wanted pizza, and I sent his big brother straight off to get him a pizza, LOL! I think those videos are awesome too, although Ethan's motor planning issues seem to make signing difficult for him. For some reason, speech seems easier, but I would love to see him do a combination of speech and sign. The website is www.signingtime.com/, and the videos are really well done. My daughter (seven) likes them too!

That is great! I am so torn on the sign issue, though...sigh. How wonderful that he says it AND signs! Carter was saying then picked up signing then silence, hence the issue.

Steve, we actually bought ours from e-bay, it was the same exact dvd's/videos from the signing times site, but cheaper. And they were brand new. After his little display last night, I would highly recommend them! Like I said, we've only had them about a month, and he LOVES watching them!
Kristen, I wondered if that would happen, too, because he had several words he'd say, and I didn't want that to stop. But seems like he's ADDING to his vocabulary. I was glad to hear him say the words with it, too! ;D And, looks like it was not just a fluke! This morning he signed all done (and said it) at breakfast, then signed more at lunch, then did Grandma when she came over to visit! This is sooooo much fun!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

We are huge signing time fans. ;D Sarah has learned more signs from Alex and Leah than from mommy, daddy or the st. I like that they always say the word when they sign. I also like that the word is written, too.
Kristen~Sarah has used words and then suddenly dropped them and it didn't have anything to do with signing.

WOW some how these videos got by me THANKS sooooo much for sharing this Even thou Chris is 12 his speech is very delayed or I guess at this point I should just say his articulation is not that good He has total communication in his program, speech, cueing, augmentative and sigh. Interesting to me is sign has always been his first choice Hmmm correction verbal has always been his first choice BUT when not understood sign is his next over all the others. Chris is very visual and I really think thats why he likes sign so much Colin signs lots and we even find Chris with the sign book, noooo kidding here, trying to figure new ones out. BUT I bet he would love to see it on video, even at his age THANKS again, I am for sure gonna order ones with words he does not know how to sign yet CC ~

We love signing time too. My 4 y/o watches them with Alethea, well, she watches them and Alethea does her own thing. When I don't know a sign for something I ask Hannah and without a doubt she knows the sign. Great tool for kids and their level. If you go to their site you can view the video online. It's a great way to know what you're getting before you buy it.
