Hi everyone! I just have to share. Andrew had a new OT start a few weeks ago, and she knew someone only 20 minutes from me with a baby girl with DS!! She is only 20 months old. She called me and we had a very nice conversation. I could hear her little girl in the backround getting fustrated and doing the same "growling" Andrew does! ;D (can you tell how excited I am?) We are planning to get together at my house on Friday. I can't wait! This will be the first time I have ever met a baby with DS. The two of them are so close in age but she said her daughter does more then Andrew. She already says some words and can almost walk. I hope Andrew will get a boost in confidence after meeting her. I'm just sooo thrilled to have someone to talk to, and share stories with. I just can't wait!! Sorry... I am soo excited, I just had to share!! ;D

That's great! I've often wished I had someone like that living close by. I don't know any other children with DS, either!

Have fun! I am getting together with a friend who has a son with Ds tomorrow. He is three months younger than my daughter and doing way more. I am hoping Sarah will learn from him. They have so much fun together.

This sounds terrific. I think networking and finding support from other parents is the BEST therapy where DS is concerned.
When Em was about 6 weeks...in Denver...the mom of a bit older child had a coffee for about 6 of us whose babies were all about the same age (lots of babies being born in Denver at that time...babies with DS).
For the two years we continued to live there and for some time after moving ...these people were my chief source of support. Nobody but the mom of another baby with DS understands the tiny achievements that we celebrate with bottles of Champagne!!!!!
After moving to Texas and losing this group....I had a hard time for a while....no one seemed to understand my sheer joy the first time Emily opened a door using the doorknob!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL...have fun with this mom and like someone said...maybe its the beginning of a DS group.
