Hey guys...can anyone who lives in the LA area post and help me with this....Marnie and I are thinking that Sunday we might want to go into LA from Anaheim and stay someplace closer to the airports so we dont have to get up Monday at the crack of dawn for late morning flites.
We are looking at some place called Manhattan Beach which is about 2.5 miles from the airport...is it a decent area? Anything to do there on a Sunday afternoon? Restaurants? and IS it REALLY easy to get to LAX from there? Also what is the easiest way to travel from LAX to Anaheim...bus? shuttle? taxi? There are going to be the 3 of us.....
We are getting excited about the NDSC but the logistics are throwing me off a bit....Em and I are flying into John Wayne....but somehow Marnie talked us into flying with her out of LAX.....She is doing a Siblings Workshop late Sunday AM so we cant leave until after lunch.
I still hope to meet some of you out there.

Manhattan Beach IS a decent area... very compact though. It isn't too far from the airport. And no matter if you are in Anaheim or Manhattan Beach, just be prepared for LA traffic when getting to LAX... there is NO way around that at all! If you head to the shoreline in the Manhattan Beach area, that is a neat area and you guys can eat and walk around down in those parts. Here is a link for the local beaches down there. beaches.co.la.ca.us/BandH/Beaches/Main.htmManhattan Beach is know for "The Strand" which is there coastline area. But the beaches are very close knit there. And if you look on the map, Marina Del Rey is probably the closest to LAX. Marina Del Rey has a wonderul harbor area with restaurants too and it a good place to stay if you wanted to be even closer. And Venice Beach is also known as Muscle Beach... that can be very busy in the summer but it's a tourist place and very well known. It's kinda fun to experience Venice Beach. As far as a way to travel from Anaheim to LAX, I'd ask the desk person to call a shuttle and ask how much it is. I think usually the shuttles may be cheaper then the cabs. My mom usually has my sis take a shuttle to LAX when she comes here instead of a taxi. A.

Hi Jackie! The easiest way to travel back and forth would be a shuttle service. Many services are online now, and you can make reservations through their websites. Like A said, Manhattan Beach is a nice area... here's a website to check out... www.ci.manhattan-beach.ca.us/home/visitor_info.htmlOn Sunday you could visit Downtown Disney while you wait for Marnie. There's a huge Disney store (of course) and lots of other shops. Just about every hotel in the Anaheim area has shuttle service to Disneyland, and Downtown Disney is right there. We only live about 30 minutes (with no traffic haha) from Anaheim, but we are still going to stay there. I'm going to the conference, while DH and kids enjoy the pool and Disneyland. Hope we can meet at the conference - that would be great! Jodi

Hey Jackie~
Renting a car to Manhattan Beach isn't too bad if you want to drive. I think the drive is probably about 25 min w/o traffic. Yes, LA traffic is horrible.
I went to Manhattan Beach about 4 yrs ago. The beach is pretty nice and they have cute shops and restaurants around the beach area.
Have fun! Please how us how the convention went.
