We've been doing the happy dance big time around here the last day or so!!! Alison has just been wow-ing the daylights out of me in a couple of areas.
Yesterday her OT was here for a visit. Lauren was playing a mirror game with Alison and singing this song about who is in the mirror? Iiiiiittttssss...... Well Alison put her hands up and started doing the hand motions for "Itsy Bitsy Spider"!!!! She did the whole thing. Lauren and I are looking at her in a state of complete bewilderment.... what's she doing that for? Well, duh, she thought it was time to play "Itsy Bitsy" Once the light bulb went on in our heads, Lauren says to me "I'm surprised she made that connection with just the word its." To both Lauren and my astonishment, Alison signed the word "surprised" and when we started laughing Alison then signed "laugh"!!! She really did surprise me by using both of those signs that she only learned in the past week! ;D ;D ;D
Then this morning she went over to her little push toy, stood up, and proceeded to walk by herself through the entire house! We've been trying soooooo hard to get her to use this push toy for the last couple of months but she absolutely positively wanted nothing to do with it! Everytime we'd try to get her to stand up at it she would just arch her back and howl as if we were sticking her with hot pokers!
I've said for a long time that Alison has her own time zone and her own agenda and will do things only when she is darned good and ready to. Looks like once again she has proved me right! Didn't matter how much "we" wanted her to walk with the push toy, it was entirely up to her and ONLY her, little stinker that she is!!!
Just had to share these "little things" with you guys, I'm just so pleased and proud of Alison today!!!
