Well Miss Em has once again moved out of our house...this time she claims it's forever...LOL....she left nothing but rubble behind and has far more than will ever fit into her room at Katie's in Austin. We are going to give her a month or so to settle in before moving her services to Travis Co down there. On her new Texas Living Medicaid Waver program she qualifies for transportation to and from work...so that will help Katie when it comes to job seeking for sure.
We just had a terrific weekend in Dallas at the very posh wedding of my neice. The reception was at Glen Eagle Country Club...and Em looked absolutely beautiful... and next to the bride...was belle of the ball. I think almost everyone there danced with her....she looked terrific on the dance floor....and the part she really loved was when the bride and groom at midnight were whisked off the golf course in a helicopter that is owned and piloted by her cousin!!!!!.....pretty spectacular. ;D
The handoff to Katie happened after lunch on Sunday.....I did pretty well....LOL
My house seems frightfully quiet today...and I am pretty sad...but already got an email from Em...so all is well...LOL....

Aaaaw Jackie, hugs to you. I know it must be hard for you and I can't even think that far ahead with Sarah, or maybe I just don't want to but it is great that Em is leading such an independent life.
Here's hoping you get used to the silence and even begin to enjoy it.

CONGRATULATIONS to Emily!!! This sounds like a BIG move, and she'll be so good with Katie's kids and all the neighbor kids too.
As for YOU, Miss Jackie................I know you will miss her something terrible, but you'll manage to keep very busy and will hopefully be able to go and visit her and the grandbabies OFTEN!

Oh Jackie- no doubt she was the belle of the ball. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. You and Ed deserve some special time together, alone! Please take the good with the bad.
My best to the entire family,
mb

Jackie,
I was picturing the helicopter at midnight on the golf course - how romantic! I would have liked to see that myself!
It is so hard to have our children growing up - my oldest has been attending a local college, but is now talking about going to a tech college in the UP (Cathy, could you keep an eye on him, LOL?) and although I think it would be a great move for him, I hate the idea. Of course, I haven't told him that, he knows that he has our support. I can't imagine how much harder it will be if Ethan wants to move that kind of distance.
You have done such a wonderful job with Emily, and there are probably many parents who envy her ability to manage so ably for herself. Still not much consolation for a mom missing her "baby", right? Thank goodness Christmas is right around the corner!
Hugs, and enjoy the quiet knowing that you have done a superb job. Laura

LOL...I am not fond of quiet....I miss her music station....the Eagle ...and Elton John..... We had an on going battle all summer of who got to set the car radio...LOL....I like NPR....but not Em....she gives Mozart a ...thumbs down...altho....LOL...I do think at times she is a "closet" classical music listener After raising four children...not quiet ones either...the Sounds of Silence weigh heavily on me......in fact that is one of the reasons Em gave for wanting to move to Austin...she likes the noise and confusion of Katie's house...LOL. But you are right...time to get back to being just the two of us again....maybe a Santa Fe fix would help............... Jackie mom to emily 25

Jackie,
Maybe when Ethan's choice of music changes I will be in the position of actually missing his music! LOL. Right now he is hooked on Disney's Silly Songs tape, and we have been listening to it EVERY time we get into the car for the last six or more months. I was halfway to a meeting that was about sixty miles away the other day before I realized that I was singing along to "I'm My Own Grandpa" and I was alone in the car!
We just got a new van, and one of the big selling points for me was the fact that it has headphones in the back so Ethan can listen to his music. I don't even know yet if that means that I have to listen to silence while he listens, but even that would be a welcome change! LOL.
Isn't it funny how much of our married life revolves around our kids? I have a family member who was childless who would make thinly veiled comments about how our children "ran our life", as if that meant we were bad parents who had no control. I have great kids, well behaved, well mannered, GOOD kids, but yup, having kids completely changes your life, and they DO run your life for a lot of years. Their needs come first, and it has become an ingrained habit. It will probably take more than a little time to build new habits, think of how long you have been cultivating the ones you have!

A helicopter whisked them away?! Here I thought getting married in a blizzard was exciting! Love to hear about Emily's independence. Hope she is happy with her move. Jessie

LOL, Jackie, you are a MUCH better mom than I am! I loved Silly Songs for about the first three months, but when he refused to listen to ANYTHING else, I got a little sick of it. I'll be honest, we do all kinds of silly hand motions to the songs in the car, and I bought all the other silly song selections available, but he refuses to listen to the others, just wants the one he knows. His seven year old sister wants equal time with music, and NEVER gets to listen to anything he likes, because he's such a brat when we put other music on, and I can't resist his begging for "his" music. I'm going to have to put my foot down soon, before Victoria gets totally resentful.....

What a wonderful time in "both" of your lives. I know the excitment she must be feeling taking such big steps on her own. And for you, what an amazing feeling to see her achieve her independence. Good luck to all of you!! I look forward to hearing of her adventures!!

Jackie,
How hard it must be for you! I can't imagine what it must be like to be in your shoes. I am sure Santa Fe will do the trick though. It is so beautiful there! I went once a long time ago during the month of May. Of course I ended up in a bookstore. ;D I even had a tour of the streets in Santa Fe. It was great!
All Emily sees is a road of independence and freedom. She is so young!
I like NPR too. It is a great radio station! I enjoy it very much especially Studio 63 and Garrison Keillor.
You can always call me you know. Maybe you can call me when you have another art show?
Debbie
