Well....we reconvened Chase's IEP from the end of the school year when we put it on hold as the new special ed director needed to find answers for us and see if she could comply with some of our requests. I dont know if everyone knows but we have had a TERRIBLE time wiht the school district and their treatment of Chase. We actually had to even file a federal complaint against the school superintendent. Well we walked into the conference room to find the special ed director of the entire county sitting there. I instantly felt I was going to vomit, LOL, (he ususally means very bad news) but after 20 questioning him...we found he was there to make sure things went EXACTLY as they should. Evidently the school district either took our promise to sue them seriously or they took the feds coming down on their heads seriously or maybe both, who knows, but I have to tell you I am so happy that things look like they are going to go from awful to fantastic. I still am not going to count my chickens before they are hatched but I am feeling pretty confident, he is even going to help write goals for Chase and spend some time getting to know him (probably observing in the classroom) So how do we feel about this? ROFL...I really do hate having to be a *itch all the time when it comes to getting things accomplished for our guy but this is one time I am so happy I am outspoken for my main little squeeze!!!! See, just goes to show you, the squeaky wheel does get the grease!!!!!! huggers from a happy advocate/Mom Robin

(that's Hebrew for "yea!"but with MORE emphasis)(If I could I would put a dancing snoopy here!) Boy I've been down this road and yes it helps to threaten (especially--he he - ;D if you already have been in court---) I know EXACTLY what a nerve scene this is and I REALLY hope it goes a LLOOTT better this year. The battle for our kids rights is SO hard and SO nervewracking but SSSSOOOOOO worthwhile!!!! ;D ;D

It SUCKS that sometimes with certain districts (like yours and mine) we have to be the Squeaky Wheel BUT girl its the darn truth its what gets the Grease ;D And although I am sure my district would throw me a "Going Away Party" LOLOL if I moved and I am sure it would not be for the reason one usually gets one of those parties, LOLOL Wishing MR. CHASE the BESTEST of School years CC

LOL you guys, thanks!!!!!! You are all awesome Moms!!!!! They called and asked me to come in today to help them devise Chase's schedule for his school day, and work out any squeaks we foresee. I am really optimistic I like your phrase Jesse..."the good fight", and it is okay to fight a good fight for if we dont ask for and get what our kiddos need, who else will? There is no better advocates then parents. I just dont want to look back and think "if only I had" I want to know I did everything it took to get what he needs. And I forgot to mention...... when the ST said she didnt know if there was enough funding, the county director said....." That isnt Chase's problem, it's yours" LOLOL!!!!! CC....... ROFL, can you imagine the party these districts would throw for you and I? Girl, they would make NY eve in Time square look pitiful!!!!!!! Seriously it is sad (not to mention painful) that we even have to expend so much time and energy on fighting for our children when we could use it for other things...like quality time with them, but this is life and some of us just dont have very nice school districts when it comes to our children with disabilities. Jesse, call on me any time for help beating up Jason's school district when they dont do their best for him...and Deb, LOL, I wish you and Jennifer lived closer!!!!! hugs, Robin

I'm glad that things seem to be working out. -- Finally. Some days, I just get so tired of being squeaky though. It helps to read when it works for someone else.
Good luck, Donna
