Well, I just put John on the bus for his first day of Kindergarten. My 9 year old son rides the same bus, so they got on together and will sit together for the first few days. After that, I suspect my older son will want to sit in the back with his friends!! I decided to let him ride the bus and forced myself not to follow the bus to school and watch him get off. I can not take the chance that he will see me- I want him to feel complete confidence, and not that I am sneaking around watching him. His aide will meet him at the bus, and today is a full day of school, so he will have to eat lunch at school and will not be home until 4:00. I should be smiling I guess, but I am kinda sad. I am really hoping he adjusts to Kindergarten and is successful. It will be a huge adjustment from his PPI classroom. At least he is in the same building he went to preschool in so he is very comfortable with his surroundings. I have met with his aide 2 times now, and she is very very nice and has been doing this for 4 years. There are only 15 others kids in his class, so really I know he will be fine!
My husband is just like- not really understanding my sadness and fears- He is a great Dad but does not really concern himself with the school stuff ( just the hard Math homework- he is an engineer) so I finally explained to him that it is like spending 6 years on a project, ( 6 years!!!)and now I have to see if it is going to work! Life is so complicated sometimes!
Also, the hurricane down south has really got me bummed out. My heart breaks for these people!
I guess I better go shopping and out to breakfast. That is sure to cheer me up! Ha Ha
