I am happy to say we all survived with smiles!! When John got off the bus yesterday I could see he was happy happy happy and a note from his aide confirmed it. She said he was the best behaved in the whole class and did just what he was supposed to do. She also got a huge chuckle out of him trying to recite the pledge. He did it every day in preschool, so he does know it in bits and pieces- she said she was really proud of him. I have found the bus driver to be excellent- taking good care of him and said she made him the line leader of her kindergartens- Was that nice or what!!
So today he goes only half a day, should be fine, although he was pretty sluggish this morning- first day all excitement, second day tired- by next week I will be propping him up at breakfast.
As for myself, I wallowed in the moment for a bit- then decided I would shower, put on make up and wear something nice. I ran errands most of the day- and it was really nice to have the whole day!!!! I do think I will come to love Tuesdays and Fridays!!! Even when my older girls ( 13 &12) got home from middle school they were suspicious of why I was dressed up- they just expected me to sit around the house all day I guess!
thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement- I know it is just the beginning but it feels good to start off on the right foot.

Hey...sounds like school is going great! Yippee!!! And good for you for getting out! ;D When my older son started school, I really didn't mind. Don't get me wrong, I loved having him home and still love summers with him home. (Not that he's home much anymore, at 16! ) Anyway, I don't think I'll feel the same with Nicholas. I was MUCH younger with Derek, and now I know just how fast those years go and how quickly they grow up! But then again, having a day to get out and get stuff done without a tag-a-long sounds pretty darn good, too!! ;D
