I don't know exactly where our Texas UnoMaser's live, but watching the development of Hurricane Rita is making me nervous. Please post up and let us know where you live, and if you are leaving, K?
My prayers are with the people of Texas and Louisiana.

Definetly sending out prayers, and positive thoughts to all of you...As a Floridian I know that is not a fun thing. Hoping that all fair well, and that Ms. Rita slows down a bit before making land fall.
God's Speed, Michele

Well just to let you know....We are in NO danger up here in Amarillo....I am in the top (square) part of Texas known as the Texas Panhandle....high and dry is our forecast. We are about 700+ miles from the coastal areas. We ARE however on the I-40 corridor so have a plethora of motels and lodging. Our news is reporting we are already a full house and our Red Cross Katrina shelter is reopening.
Emily, as you all know, is living in Austin now and they are expecting major rains and winds up to 90mph there. Texas A&M in Waco has been closed.
Emily seemed a bit upset when I phoned her yesterday...seems she has been watching non stop because the storm will come in almost exactly where she lived last year in Seabrook/Kemah/Clear Lake area between Galveston and Houston. Her former employers have a huge beautiful home about two miles inland. She is pretty concerned about them. She said the news says Austin might be without power and that bothered her. I reminded her how much fun we have had here during power losses using candles....I could JUST hear the wheels turning at this point....and she said...."oh you mean ....like on ...Passions!!!!!" Katie said later Em was very eager to go with her on a Hobby Lobby run.....to buy some....romantic....candles...LOL.....That Emily knows how to make something good out of a bad thing...... But glad she is not living where she was this time last year for sure. Thanks for your concern.

well...anyone who wants can come up to Amarillo...we have room for you. My newest grandbaby....is due today ...in Arlington/Dallas. Jessica is pretty sure she won't be coming today....and they are a bit stressed that she might decide to make her appearance this weekend in the heavy rains and winds....so cross your fingers for them....its their third...they have two little guys already. Jessica's mom lives in Lake Charles...and might evacuate but not be able to get to Dallas.
The news coverage this morning is interesting...our silly media....they all seem to be trying to outgess the Hurricane Center and predicting all sorts of different landfalls...think this is to keep you surfing .....

Hi Everyone, I am checking in from Austin. We were expecting high winds and alot of rain but now they say may not be as bas as they suspected for us. We will still have rain and probably power outages and high winds. I work for a hospital in Austin and we are receiving alot of patients from the Houston/Galveston area. I will be working through the worst of it. Say some prayers for my family. My 6 year old is pretty scared. Laura
