Oh my god STeff, you had me laughing SOOOO hard! Especially the part about throwing him across the room, cuz that's how I feel right now, I mean really, you have to be KIDDING me.
So ummm, Steff, where are those steps? I have a feeling they might be a tad far from Michigan, LOL! But I'm getting desperate.

I never intentionally induced labor because both of my girls were early. I was in labor for months with each... however, what finally did it, BOTH times was going to Olive Garden. I am very serious too.. I got this shrimp thing.... Mediterranian (I know I botched the spelling) shrimp scampi I believe. And it worked, twice! Both of my kids were born the day after Olive Garden. (I thought the first time was a fluke or I wouldn't have gone again the second time!)

Chelsae,
Hmmm, Olive Garden sounds MUCH better than magnesium citrate. Sign me up!

Well, I don't have much to offer since my daughter came out in her prom gown because she was sooo late. 11 days late, I was induced.....2 epidurals (neither gave me any relief) followed by 24 full hours of labor....and the finale was a spinal for a c section I had on hour number 28!!
My son on the other hand came 11 days early......and boy did he make a grand entrance!!
Through all the pain of childbirth...it truly is the best experience life has to offer. I'll say my prayers for a quick and healthy delivery for you!!

Ok, I've been following this closely as I am taking notes here! But, no advice to give. Sorry Laura. However, I must say that the last post by Lisa really scared the sh*t out of me!!!! OMG, I am praying my labor and delivery is nothing like you described with your daughter. Best experience of your life . . . what am I missing here? Seriously. Jessie

Jessie,
My worst delivery was my first, and nearly everything that could have gone wrong, did. I spent 20 hours on pitocin (which induces labor, and is the most evil stuff EVER) and was still only dilated to 2. Those were the days of "natural childbirth" so I didn't get ANYTHING for pain, and because they were worried I might need a c-section, they wouldn't let me have anything to eat or drink. When I finally started to progress, I stalled in "transition" (the hardest stage of labor) for 3 1/2 hours dilated to 9. Nick made his appearance after 36 hours of HARD labor, and by the time they laid him on me, I was so exhausted, I literally COULD NOT open my eyes to look at him. But I will never forget the feeling I had when they laid him on my stomach to cut the cord - it was the fiercest, wildest attachment I have ever experienced. I can remember thinking "MINE!" And realizing that I would kill anyone who threatened him. And I'm seriously not kidding.
So, that's what you're missing, although not for much longer, LOL! Besides, epidurals are very much the thing these days, and believe me, I plan to have one again! I highly recommend it!

Ok, my 2 cents in here: 1. House clean up (cleaning the walls is the best) 2. Walking up the stairs 3. Riding the car (better mini van or a bus is even better) on the back sit on the bad road. 4. Taking a warm bath.
Wishing you a quick and easy delivery. Good luck!

Jessie! LOL! OK, I'm just gonna reassure you a bit, since you sounded so scared! Derek, my older son, was soooooooooo easy I don't even know if you'd call it "labor." Excuse the graphic nature here, but I thought I had to go to the bathroom. After this happened several times without anything happening, I got to thinking, "Hmmm....this IS his due date. Are these contractions?" So, off we went to the hospital, just to get checked, because it really wasn't bad. I was already dialated to 6cm, my water had already broke (I somehow completely missed that!), still wasn't bad! We went to the hospital around 9am, and he was born at 11:51am. I went back to my room and had lunch! ;D Now, Nicholas on the other hand, is a completely different story! And since you havn't experienced labor, yet, I'll spare you that one, cause it would also scare the sh*t out of you! BUT, I would gladly do it again to get my little Nicholas! ;D

Don't do the bath! I was having braxton hicks every 10 min. The midwife said take a bath & slow them down or you will meet me in the hospital. It worked. I had to do it 2 days in a row. (I had 6 weeks to go & besides that my DH was in Ecuador) Pat

Jessie, you will know what I mean when you're holding your baby.....the pain of childbirth is all forgotten when you are looking at what has been growing inside you for what seems an eternity!! You will instantly see your husbands eyes...or your nose......I mean this from the bottom of my heart.....you will witness a miracle in that delivery room. All of the machines, monitors, doctors and nurses will be a million miles away as you stare into the eyes of the child that you made.
All this baby talk makes me want to have another one!!!

Laura, what the heck are you still doing here lol lol just kidding. Hmmmm Ariel was also l4 days over due and we went straight to C-section. When Gabe was due I thought they should have put a little zipper in the first time so I wouldn't EVER have to directly experience labor!! I guess that is a medical advance that only a woman would think of ;-) I am with all the others just hope you have this little sweet pea of yours SOON and you will soon post up with happy news and a SHORT delivery!! WE CAN'T WAIT either!!!

Debu! Soooo good to see you! But FOURTEEN days overdue! Oh no, that's not happening. I'll go the magnesium citrate route first. Or even sex, LOL!
I was kind of freaking out today, because 11 days ago at my last ultrasound they pegged the baby's weight at 7lbs 8oz. and they supposedly gain about an ounce a day. That would put this one over 8 pounds already, and that is plenty big enough for me!

Laura.. Reece and Regan were both about 2 weeks overdue. But think about it.. gestation is 40 weeks right.. and "term" after 36 technically... but you due date is actually based on your LMP which is usually about 14 days BEFORE you conceive... (typcally speaking, not in all cases)... so it makes sense to me that so many women go over their due date Although I was ready to have my girls.. I was ok with going over my due date. I was actually in pre term labor with Regan and had to be on the meds... only to get off the darn stuff and labor for TWO days... and then the pitocin.. which I did NOT like... With Reece and Russell I was farther along in my labor and didn't get the pitocin until MUCH later in the game, like, after they ruptured my waters and had an epi. So... pitocin first is NOT my favorite thing. I would rather my body go into labor! LOL When you least expect it.. you will be in labor... they say you want an ENORMOUS meal right before or while you just started labor.. in the early stages.. that happened in ALL three of my kids actually.. it was too funny! I had an insatiable appetite RIGHT as I was starting the early stages of labor. I actually went out to eat with Regan and Russell both and didn't realize I so uncomfy I was in labor. heehee.... WALK WALK WALK... do lots of walking... and strip those membranes!!!!! Ask the doc to do that the next doc visit... if your body is ready.. they can do that. A.

See now, in the time it took you to read this, you could have chug a luged that castor oil and made your first trip to the potty! Hold your nose and CHUG IT! I would put it in some cranberry juice - the bittery sweet seems to cut the rank taste of most things.
