We got to bring Lexy home today. ;D It is so nice to be home. Don''t get me wrong, we are nervous wrecks!! There is so much to look for and make sure of. She has to have chemo every tuesday. That is pretty much until May and then she hopefully starts going once a month. Perfect timing b/c that's when baby #2 is due!! Her chemo lasts 2 1/2 years. The Drs said 50% of children go in remission in one week!! Can you believe that. Ideally though she will be in remisssion in one month. That is the goal. We gave her a much needed bath tonight and decided to cut her hair really short. They recommened this b/c when she loses it, it won't be so hard on all of us. Lexy will be thrilled to death w/out hair!! She hates when I do anything with it. Thank you so much for your prayers, I know I don't write much on here but I'm going to need everyones support. I know from reading on here, I'll get everything I need. Thanks again. Elizabeth

I'm so glad she's home! Wow, chemo for 2 1/2 yrs. But that remission in a month sounds great! ;D I bet it was hard for you to cut her hair, but like you said, she's probably loving it!
Prayers going out for Lexy for a quick remission!!!

Good to hear Lexie is home again. WOW 2+ yrs of Chemo... It will be a long hard road for you, but heres hoping you get that remission next month!! That will make it all worthwhile. And I am sure Lexie IS loving her new Hair do!! Over here we have a charity Called "Canteen" which raises funds for support of children and teenagers with Cancer. They sell really groovy Bandannas for those undergoing Chemo to wear on their heads. They also hold an annual Bandanna day where the sell these bandannas to the public to wear for a day and raise money. Dont know if you have the same thing there, but if you are concerned about Lexies hair loss, maybe you could get some suggestions for groovy headwear that she might like to wear. Just a thought.

I'm so glad Lexy is home. Trust me you'll be able to breathe again soon! It's scary right now, but it will get better. Editing to add: go to www.heavenlyhats.com. You can have hats sent to Lexy from this wonderful young man. Mickey got a box with 6 or 7 hats last winter. They are great! And I forgot to tell you that Mickey was in remission at day 7 so it can and does happen! We were hoping for remission by day 28 too! Kids with Ds respond to the chemo meds better than typical kids. They are more sensitive to the meds which means they seem to work better for our kids! Jenny www.deputyfamily.net

Your family will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time. Please know we are here for you ANYtime you have the time to update us. Susan

Elizabeth,
That is GREAT that she is home, 50% remission within a month is really good news. Let's hope she gets there as fast as Micky (jenny's boy). I know that Kourtney would also love a really short hair do, she also hates it to be touched, washed, brushed...etc..
Still sending positive thoughts and prayers, Michele

Oh my goodness, Elizabeth, I missed your initial post, been a little preoccupied lately. I'm so glad to hear that Lexy has the curable kind of leukemia. I have such a good feeling about this - things are going to be just fine. I'm sure that this is really scary for you, and especially stressful with a new baby on the way, I know how freaked out I got the one time that Ethan had petechiae, and his turned out to be a false alarm. Please post as often as you feel able (without further stressing yourself) and let us know how Lexy is doing. We are ALWAYS here to listen. HUGS, Laura
