It just amazes me how far Collin has come in his speech in the last 4-5 months but I am finding it to be a lot like his walking. When Collin was crawling he was a crawling disaster...into everything then when he started walking I wondered what the heck I was wishing for ?!?! He was now a walking disaster he could now reach more things and RUN!!! Well...now I am not Complaining about is speech but my little man is getting a bit CHEEKY and he's to darn cute to get on plus I'm just so happy he is talking and communicating. While the WHY has started to subside it has been replace with a new chatch phrase!!! While it's mostly with him asking to be carried I have found him starting to use it more but it is beginning to old. Collin will ask "Carry Me"....I will tell him NO he proceeds to tells my "Yea you are!!!" Mouthly little Snot but really cute!! Connie

Hi Connie,
Always nice to hear about Collin....I think he and Erin are awful close in age as I recall....Erin will be 6 in Feb. ! It's nice to hear his speech had a surge because I am patiently waiting over her for our own surge ! When Erin started walking...she took right off.....but she didn't even TRY until the second berfore she turned 2.... I SWEAR she walked on her 2nd b-day and from that point on it was running, running, climbing, running....no more walking...and FORGET about that crawling stuff !! She had no interest ! So I'm hoping speech will be the same.....we've had very little in the past 5 years.....but now she is really starting to get it and I HOPE HOPE HOPE that she will fly with it and just be non-stop like she did with walking ! She is signing, and verbaliziing so much ( though others might not know what she is saying)...WE do and that is a huge step ! Take Care, Allisa

Yeahhhh, Colin!!!!
I was just watching an old "Andy Griffith Show". This is the one where Aunt Bea comes to live with them and Obee had a fresh mouth about Aunt Bea coming. So Andy says, "And to think I couldn't wait for you to talk." I was amazed that Andy had said it, but ahhh, how true it is!!!

I think it is AWESOME how Colin's speech is taking off even more.... albeit cheeky! heehee... Reece is going through that cheeky phase herself. But... if he is being cheeky, it means he has gotten more self confident with himself AND his words to express himself within his world which is an AWESOME thing!!!!

That's great!! I think the cheekiness is also a sign that he is one smart little guy - showing he is thinking on his own and not just repeating. WTG Collin!

WTG Colin... now, Katie and Colin can be cheeky together.
I love hearing stories about how far speech is coming along. Katie is also progressing extremely well this year, and I agree with whoever said, that cheeky is a sign of self confidence. Katie certainly has that. And I am with all of you that are sitting there wondering what we were thinking when we wished for speech and walking. Remember those days when I offered money to get Katie to say Mom...now I am offering money to get her to stop!
Hugs, To you all and I sure hope we can catch up with you guys this summer, it has been WAYYYY too long!

Cathy, Right now I love the Cheekiness but I know in a few years I will be eating that remark!! His most recent use of a word appropriately was... "AGAIN" Collin has had several accidents over the last couple of days and I have figured out it is do to constipation but that is a whole different thread. But, he proceeded to tell me "Peed my pants AGAIN". While even though I was ready to beat him with in an inch of his life I was glad he could use that word. Connie

;D ;D CHEEKY??? I refer to it as MESSING WITH MY HEAD...LOL... Ohh Connie. I am so proud of you guys.. Stay strong cause the more words the more he'll try. BUT MAN aren't they great? Olivias a mouthy one a LOT oh boy glad she doesn't live at your house or she would be in her room 24/7.lolol...I find the more I don't let her get to me or laugh off her moments of testing me she does much better. Does that make sense? The more I go on about it, get mad about it, the more she does it. For example." Olivia lets get your shoes on for school go get em." She'll bring me her boots slippers anything but her tennies she wears to school cause she knows I will bug out. Now once I stopped after the first attempt at trying to let me let her wear sandals or slippers to school I walk away and do something else. By golly that child will bring me her tennies... I stopped sweating over it and went onb to something else. I really just walk away from her and sure enough she'll walk up to me with her tennies. SORRY MOM here's my tennies...I'll stop messing with your head." Then it will start over with going to the car for school. WELL if she's not ready this mom will take Kyle leave her at home with Jeff and march her into the vp's office and have her explain why she's late. We only had to do that once..LOL And she cried and cried and cried when I brought her in to vp's office and said Liv needed to explaqin why she was late. AND she did. She told her... I didn't listen to my mom and put on my shoes brush my teeth etc...So I'm late SORRY.. The tears started to flow and I looked at the vp who gave her a talking to gently and sweetly yet firmly and by golly the child has never had to go back there. I just hafta say OKAY Liv we have 5 minutes when the timer goes off we are leaving if your not done then BYE BYE... Boy she does everything fast. It's cute till they start to make ya crazy and ruin every waking moring. Ya know found that this works with Liv and her and Collin are so much alike.. HUGS Steff
