Kathy and I met and I already had two boys. They were 8 and 10. A ready made family and everyone was happy. ;D Then I asked what about kids and she said we have two and I said how about more. She said you've been fixed and I said yes, I will get repaired so...... Two repairs and unhappy insurance companies later we started to try for our family together. Problems, so five years later and may different proceedures it was time for Invitro. Lupron was the drug of choice so just before the harvest time she had a ultrasound and guess what PG ;D so stop the Lupron and Invitro. Plans changes but for the better. A little concern, because conception while on Lupron but Ultrasounds removed all doubt and worry. Triple marker came back OK, so were set to go!!!! So No Worries. James was Born. ;D Perfect Birth, 2 hours labor and 6 minutes of hard pushing and no meds. Pink and handsome and off to get his first bath. O2 sat checked and found to be low. MD checked and didn't know what was wrong but said it might be sepsis and he was concerned about Down Syndrome. We said no way the triple marker was OK and he doesn't look like DS he looks like me. Round face, small nose, ect. He must be wrong and the tongue thrust doesn't mean a thing, all kids stick out their tongues. White count high and O2 sats low, suggested menegitis and DS test back in two weeks. Time to go to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. Resident on Peds Ambulance said he was sure James had DS and he seemed proud to be able to tell us that bit of info. Who is he to say that!!!!!!!!!!! Went to Indy. Next morning tests back and all medical concerns gone. White count down and O2 sat up but the Peadritic Fellow siad he hated to tell us but the test for DS came back positive. Very compassionate and took the time to explain and answer all our questions at that time. Good thing is No Heart or Digestive Problems and now we know that the DS was a good thing. Went home on O2 for 2 months and since then everything has been fine. Oh, except that he now has a sister Elizabeth. Life is good! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D The Family: David 45 Kathy She'd kill me Michael 20 Matthew 18 James 3 Elizabeth 2 Rennen the dog 10 Hope to hear from some or all of you and I'll include pictures as soon as I figure it out. PS added pics 11-14-02 number 39, 41 - 45

Hello David! As you can see I am Debbie. I am from Texas, the panhandle of Texas where the wind can really blow and the weather can change pretty rapidly sometimes. I am not a fellow parent however. I am a person who has Down syndrome. I have Mosaic Down syndrome. I am considered slight but do have my problem area's. I am able to read pretty well and can write well also. My weak area's are math, certain concepts and I have vision problems. I graduated from high school with my class and did attend one semester of college. You have found a wonderful web site and bulletin board. I am glad you have found it and hope to hear from you often. Please post on how James is coming along and your other children too. Debbie, an adult who has Down syndrome ;D

Hi David!! Thanks for posting your story!! I just saw your family pic in the photo album and it's great to know who we're chatting with! When I start feeling better, I hope to chat again SOON!! Tell your wife to join us too. My husband reads Uno Mas faithfully and tries to keep up with who is who, but he works on Thursday and Sunday nights and can't chat. LOL Like I would let him near the computer on chat night!!!! Susan (Mom to Emily, age 11)
