Yup..that's right, I have a BIG brag for my little man. ;D
As some of you might remember, Andrew got his AFO's a couple of weeks ago. Well, I was told to get him shoes that were a half size too big so the AFO's would fit. We wore the new shoes for about 1 week before we got the AFO's (to try to "break them in"). He had no problems with the shoes.
Since he got the AFO's he has not been doing his normal crusing of furniture, standing unassisted, he even would lean on the table or couch if we stood him up there.
Ok, let me try to make this long story short for you. We finally got a new PT last Thursday. She is WONDERFUL. She is very knowledgable about DS. After watching Andrew for a little while and hearing me state how he doesn't do what he used to, she asked me if we still had his old shoes and if she could see them. She took the pad on the bottom of the shoes out so the AFO's would fit better and put them on Andrew. Within 10 minutes, he was crusing again!! I was SHOCKED!! She said sometimes our kids can be a little stubborn and she thinks he just didn't want the "new" shoes and wanted the old ones back. (hehhe the little stinker. )
So here we are 5 days later, and lo and behold......Andrew is almost walking!! He is taking 3-4 steps ALL ON HIS OWN!!! ;D I am SOO thrilled! The best part is, he knows exactly what he's doing. His whole face lights up, from his chin all the way to his eyebrows, his eyes get huge and he just beams! I swear his eyes sparkle and twinkle..LOL!! oops..or maybe that was MY eyes filled with tears of joy. LOL!
You know, sometimes I wish I had Andrew as a first child rather than my last. The feeling I get when he reaches a new milestone is just uncomparable. I wish I could have known so much more before having my other children. Or maybe that's why he's last. So I can enjoy this so much more. K, I need to stop here before I ramble anymore and this becomes a Hmmm thread for me. ;D
Hopefully I will be posting soon that Andrew is running everywhere. This boy is just getting WAYYY too heavy for me to pick up! Thanks for letting me share my "big" news with you guys!!
