Last night I tried to put Ryan down by himself. It's time - he will be 8 in June. So - I put him down, and he gets up. Put him down again, he gets up. I stand against the wall opposite of his door. He cracks the door open, and then slams it shut when he sees me. Cracks, slams. Cracks, slams. I go in and put him back in bed. 10 minutes later, cracks, slams. After about 2 hours, the kid FINALLY went to sleep ;D (Jo would be so proud). He wakes up at 2 a.m. I tell hubby, give him some water, and put him to bed - but don't get in with him!!!! Ryan went back to sleep alone ;D. Wish me luck tonight!!! I'm gonna need it!! Jodi

I also lie down with Andrew at night. We are moving him to his own room in a few weeks, and I think I am also going to have a big problem on my hands. The only good thing is that he is still in a crib so there will be no slamming of doors ( unless it's me...LOL!!!). I just hope I can handle the "crying it out" because I just can't stand to listen to him cry for too long. I know, I have a big problem, LOL! Good luck tonight, I hope it goes smoothly for you. -Trisha

BE STRONG LADIES! Remember. they know exactly how to manipulate you! So you know they are smart so you know they are going to see who holds out longer.
I bet if you guys stay consistant they will be going down no problem by the end of two weeks.
Trust me....All my kids are in bed by 6:45 (asleep by 7:30) and they are 5, 3 and 18 mos. Bedtime routine seems to be the only thing that i got right. Dinner time......now thats a sad state of affairs around here! I am a total pushover on providing 3 different meals for 3 different kids. I need to work on that!
Good Luck to you all!

I'm proud of you Jodi!!! I think you're doing exactly what Nanny Jo would recommend, and it sounds like it's working. Keep up the exhausting work.........it will pay off!

Good luck! Hope it's a short transition period! I still rock Nicholas to sleep. I kind of like that little snuggle time. We read a book and rock until he's asleep. But...I've been thinking we probably ought to work on getting him to go to sleep in his bed. I'll probably be on here posting like you when he's 8! ;D

For us the only way we could get Chris to stay in his bed and fall asleep is we put a TV in his room and put his favorite video of the day on and BAM he would stay in bed and fall asleep before the video was over ;D Colin was always soooo anti TV's in any of the kids room BUT one day it hit me that my Sis and few of my friends said they can't fall asleep unless the TV was on. So although I myself love the quite and dark to sleep, seems my boy needed a little noise. BUT it worked and thats all that matter to me BEST of LUCK tonight, each night will get easier is my bet CC ~

It's bedtime, and in the back of my mind I'm stressing - (here we go again). I tell Ryan it's time to sleep, we all say good night, then Ryan asks dad to lay down with him. Dad says no, Ryan says "no, Ryan" - meaning no mom, no dad, no josh, no puppy, just Ryan in the bed. Dad and I say "good" and leave the room. You are not going to believe this... he was sleeping in his bed within 20 minutes and didn't once get out of bed. Well, he did get up at some point in the middle of the night, but he never left his room. He was blocking the door this morning. YAY!!! That was waaaaaay too easy - I'll let you know how night 3 goes.
