WAS AWESOME ;D ;D
Ya'll I was completely blown away!!!
I KNEW that he was doing well. I knew that he was a complete different child since all the changes were made at his school.
What I didn't expect was the Kaden tested out of most all the categories that labeled him PROFOUND or SEVERE TOooooo MODERATE!
He was able to respond to verbal commands given by the psychologist. His receptive language has grown so that he follows two part commands.
What everyone seemed to agree on was that Kaden was a very smart little guy that had adapted to his lack of hearing and vision better than what anyone could have predicted he would do.
His goals are alto more challenging this time because everyone felt sure that he was capable. ( A BIG CHANGE)
His teacher showed such a precise knowledge of what makes Kaden tick that I almost cried. I am so use to being the only one that "gets Kaden"
His speech therapist says that Kaden is actually humming along with music and even the exact pitch as the notes. His music teacher was involved this time. Finding ways to put music in with his goals to keep Kaden on task.
Kaden's biggest problem is shutting down. Just being overwhelmed pulling his blanket over his head and climbing into a swing that they have in the room. They are going to try using a tuning fork to "tune Kaden back in" to whatever they are working on. We try all kinds of things to keep his attention and they usually don't work. He can tune out the world when he wants to. The music teacher says that even totally deaf children can feel the vibrations from the tuning fork when it is placed behind their ear. Kaden is so tactile he has to touch and feel everything, they think using this fork will kind of wake him up to what is going on around him.
He is such a sensory learner. He uses his feet as well as he can his hands He even will lick something to determine what it is. He is making use of every bit of the senses that he has. That is why that he seems so adapted to his deaf/blindness. He really is amazing to watch.
They went through all the gains that Kaden made since his last evaluation 3 years ago and told me that in LD children that they hope to see 1 year gain in three years and Kaden has gained almost that with the delays that he has. The Psychologist seemed pretty impressed. SO I was the one with the I TOLD YOU SO look on MY FACE. Cause I have said that all along that there is SOOOOO much intelligence locked inside Kaden that needs to find a way out. Now that he really has an education program he is showing them what he can do.
He has progressed so much this last year that I could not have dreamed that we would be this far. I couldn't keep the smile off my face as the Psychologist kept reading the area's he had made gains. The IQ tests that Kaden has always being labeled untestable HAD A SCORE!! I don't know what it Means exactly but he had one!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't expect to walk out of that meeting today feeling this good.
I am STILL SMILING!!!!!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
YEAH KADEN!!!!!!!!!
