I read on a thread.....hmmmm.....I think it was CC that said her son started in pre-school.
We just had JT's IEP, I wish I would have asked them about any suggestions they might have, but most of the time you guys with the real experience have the best ideas!
What ages have you started augmentative devices? My little guy is trying.....really trying to communicate orally, it mostly is just all jibberish though. He is TOTALLY happy to go on and on and on. I just wish I knew what he was talking about.

Well, I think all the schools Russell has been at have used PECS and Signing from age 3 on. What kind of devices you talking about? Electronic or PECS type of stuff? I would ask the school to maybe focus on "TOTAL COMMUNICATION" which is the approach where they use ALL forms of communication... speech, sign, Pecs and electric aug comm devices if needed.

Oh Dawn....good question....I was thinking the same thing! I was wondering if Andrew could get one when he started school too. He doesn't go to school until next year but the time just seems to fly by. I look forward to reading what others have to say. Thanks! -Trisha
