I'm Kari...wife to Eric and mommy to 2 two-legged children named Lydia and Kaydie and 1 four-legged child named Isabelle (6-month-old Black Lab).
My husband and I were blessed to adopt Kaydie a little over a year ago. She is the absolute best thing that has happened to our family! Feel free to visit her website...www.kaydiebug.com
I know several people who are here all the time...Laura, Tamala, Maria and others. I look forward to getting to know the rest of you, too! ;D

Kari,
First of all... how wonderful of you to choose a baby with ds... it takes a special person.
Second... how adorable your Kaydiebug is... Loved your website
also... I couldn't help but notice... that my little Katie has the exact same crib set.... the rocking horse, hearts etc... I forget the name of the pattern. Your Kaydie looks adorable sleeping there... how cute is that ? ? ?
Anyway, can't wait to hear more about Kaydie and her family...
Hugs,
Cathy

Hello. I would like to say that we Mothers of adopted children with DS or other disabilities are not "wonderful". We are just "normal" Mum's who happen to have choosen to adopted a child with disabilities. I find it very patronising when people tell me how wonderful I am and I reply that its my children who are wonderful and I am just a very lucky person to have them. I am sure Kari will agree with me.

Thank you for the warm welcome and all the compliments on my little one! I have to say that we agree with all of you when you say she is beautiful!!! ;D
Well, Pauline...I do agree...My children are what make me special!!! I like to think I am a wonderful person and a wonderful mom, regardless of whether my children are genetically tied to me or not!!! I don't get offended or feel patronized, though, I just laugh and tell them "I'm not REALLY all that different from you or any other mom." You see, I have never felt that I could have NOT adopted Kaydie any more than anyone else could have NOT conceived a child with Ds. She was MEANT TO BE a part of me. I tease her birthmom that the stork just forgot where I lived, since I moved from Amarillo...he just dropped Kaydie off at her house until I could be reached. She gets a giggle out of that one.
I do feel that I am special--we all are...I do feel that God chose ME to be Kaydie's mom...a privilege not even bestowed upon her birthmom. I don't have any super-human strength...I am not some kind of "have it all together" woman--I can be downright flighty, sometimes...Somehow, through all my imperfections and shortcomes, He decided I was the right mommy for this little girl. I am not special in and of myself, but I feel that I am specially chosen. The circumstances surrounding Kaydie's adoption were nothing less than miraculous...I'll post the adoption story in another post because it is a LOOOOONG story!

Hello Kari!
Your pictures are wonderful! Does Kaydie always stick her arms and legs out throug her crib? My daughter Cassandra does! She is 15 months and so much fun. Cassandra has a lot of older sisters, Sarah 20, Emily 16, Katy 14, and Marissa 4. All her therapists comment on her "stimulating" environment - we have a very busy household!
