Finally a good report at school for Lia regarding EVERTHING-which includes her behavior. A few weeks ago we had a big Pow Wow to come up with a behavior plan for her. It basically is positive reinforcement. If she is a good girl she gets a reward- like dribbling the basketball down the hallway. I also requested a smiley face in her notebook if she is good- then if she has one I let her watch TV as soon as she gets home. The school plan is now ready to be started but apparently she does not need it. She also started AVE a few weeks ago as I was desperate for anything to make her behave. Audio Visual Enhancement. So I dont know if she just grew up or the AVE is working or the fact that if she has a smiley face for the day she can watch TV at home - anyway it happened and I am thrilled. Lia is 7 and in her second year of kindegarten with some pull outs.

bravo to Lia We are all proud of you and mommy too as I know it is as hard on parents and teachers to acheive better behavior goals with our children. We are still having behavior problems like Adam. He blows rasberry ksses. At first it was a commmunication attempt to get your attention, then went to a power battle now it is just simply an obssession or bad habit. We along with the Bahavio team and the school are now working on a sensary program. Basically giving him something else to do with his mouth except rasberries. It is done every 3 minutes right now so I know what you are going threw. A lot of work. We also do the magic happy smile sticker when he is good at school and he gets to watch Batney. If he gets a bad sticker he doesn't. I realized he understood the concept of the sticker faces whe he came home one day and before I opened his communication book he say " Miss Emmel (Gemmell) no Barney for Adam. It was a sad face for that day. Patience is the best thing as they do get over the behaviors, just takes a while so don't give up.

She is really proud every day she when she comes home and can tell me she is a good girl. Hope it keeps up. I never ever thought I would have a child with such behaviour problems at school. Makes my hair gray(er). Next step now is to get closer to the first grade teacher and work on modifying curriculum and preteaching. Her kindy teacher (whom I do not care for) thinks first grade will be really hard. I told her that is why we need to work on the preteaching and modifying but she is totally against inclusion. Must have killed her to give Lia a good report. Lia knows all of the sight words and letters and letter sounds. Just not good at numbers (yet) Lia will do her summer school in the first grade room with the teacher she will have. The change will be welcome. Nancy
