Let's hope not this time. We have had two deaths in the past week and I'm very scared waiting for the last shoe to drop . . . it does seem like that saying does come true alot that things happen in 3's.
Last week my friend's husband passed away after a 10-year struggle with Huntington's disease. I think I may have posted about this family before, but it's about the saddest story ever. Ted's mother had Huntington's disease but wasn't diagnosed until after she had her three children. She passed away back in 1978 and Ted was the last of the three children to die. I can't even imagine Ted's father's life . . . he has now buried his wife and all three children after watching them slowly lose their quality of life and seeing them die. That's just not right.
Yesterday, Brian's uncle died unexpectedly from respiratory failure. He wasn't in the greatest health and smoked like a chimney, but there was no reason to believe he was going to die so suddenly. He was heading out to go golfing and when he got there he had a hard time breathing, went to emergency, got hooked up to a ventilator and died a few hours later.
Ugh. Not only am I praying for both of these families but also that there is not a third one around the corner.

Jessie, I'm sorry to hear of the losses that were so close to home for you. I have worked in nursing homes for as many years as I can remember, and we always say that deaths happen by 3's. But, there are MANY times when that hasn't been the case. We do tend to sort of "expect" the 3rd bad thing to happen after the 2nd one happens though. I hope, in this case, there will be NO more bad news for your family.
