This has been going on for the last 4-6 weeks but I didn't want to post anything because I didn't want to JINX it!!! ;D This may not apply to most of you with boys but for Collin it was a major issue!!! Collin, because his "little buddy" is so little has always taken everything off from the waste down when he has had to go #2 so, that he could sit way back on the toilet seat. Well at the beginning of last school year I started working with him just leaving 1 leg on so that things would move faster after he was done but, he would not do this at school. In January we had it written into his IEP as a goal that he would go to the bathroom and leave one leg of clothing on. They really started working on this. In March he switched from a 50/50 special ed class with 12 kids aged 3-5 to a typical class with 25 kids and only about 2 kids with special needs with all these kids being 4-5 (or going into kindy next year). A few of the kids in the class took Collin under their wing and broke quite a few of his bad behaviors. To make a long story short he now goes to the bathroom and leaves all this clothes on!!!! But, always makes it a point to "POINT" his little friend DOWN....I am so thankful for that!!! ;D The little things we get excited about!!! Connie

My no longer little boy had to pull his pants down to use the potty when he was younger. I was so proud of him for trying use the opening in his briefs, but there was so much fabric there and not so much endowed to my boy. Things changed a lot at puberty. It's hard to see how how children struggle and makes us so proud as they succeed.

WTG Collin. Adam 8 still takes everything off. We are also working on that. He knows how to keep that little thing down but thinks it's a big joke to spray it on the seat. Any ideas.

Hey - Great job Collin! WTG Connie! You are right -- at least in my experience -- Boys with DS have more Potty issues! -- some things I am still working on -- *sigh* -- and he is 11!! Wonderful news - for you & Collin! Patience & Persistence is the Key! Claire - I used to have issues with Adam "spraying" LOL! - and I used to put a little toilet paper in the toilet & told him to "hit the Target" -- if he did, he got praise --after waile, that wasn't enough tho! So we went to stickers and then after so many stickers he got a little toy or a dollar so he could pick out something at the Dollar Store..... Hope that helps!! {{hugs}} Linda
